Dear Kavanaghs, Slacks, Leaders & Floods. On this Web pages you will find the Kavanagh Family Tree Starting with your ancestor Moses Kavanagh.
Per Maurice ------------ What I know about the Kavanaghs _ compiled by my mother - Bertha (Slack) Kavanagh in March 1959.
Moses Kavanagh and wife Margaret Flood came from County Wexford - Year not known - With their only child Ellen, age seven years. As far as I know they lived in a big stone house, on the top or second floor, which was originally my great Grandfather's house. They may have come to Ballycanoe first as it was Magaret Flood's uncle James Flood, who donated the land on wich to build St. James Catholic Church at Ballycanoe. The Kavanaghs, like many other Irish of that day and age, had very little money. t hey livedin this house a few years, but as Margaret wnted a roof somewhere (of their own I expect) and Moses was always wanting to go back home to Ireland, they eventually bought the farm on which son James as a young man, rode horseback ro Bytown (Ottawa) to make the last payment of the property. While living in the slack house there were two children born, they both died in infancy.
