Mrs. James Ketcham. DIED At the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.E. Thompson, this city, at 5:1 0 o'clock p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, 1907, MRS. LUCINDA (FAIRBANKS) KETCHAM, aged 72 years , 5 months and 9 days.
Her maiden name was Lucinda Fairbanks and she was born near Logansport, Indiana, April 3 , 1835. She was married to James Ketcham also a native of Indiana November 10, 1852 [1851] , and soon after their marriage they came to Illinois and purchased a farm in Pilot Grove Tow nship, Hancock county where they lived until about fifteen years ago, when they sold the far m and moved to LaHarpe. To them eleven children were born, seven daughters and fours sons, a ll of whom are living and are as follows: Mrs. Hattie Coffman of Baltimore, Maryland; Mrs. A. E. Wilcox, Carthage; Mrs. Clay Northup, Blackwell, Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Hurdle, of Durham, an d Mesdames Henry Reiselt, I.N. Mealey and J.E. Thompson, of this city; Marion of Shenandoah , Iowa, Charlie, Henry and Will of this city. The husband with whom she has lived for ove r a half century survives her at the age of 82 years. She also leaves one brother, Hiram Fai rbanks, of Petaluma, California, forty-two grand-children and seven great-grand-children.
Mrs. Ketcham had been seriously ill for several weeks before her demise and all realized t hat death was drawing near, consequently the children were notified and all were at her bedsi de before the final summons came.
She became a member of the M.E. church in 1874 and lived secure in the faith. She was a tr ue wife and mother and always enjoyed the companionship of husband and children.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, this city, Saturday, Sept. 14, 1907, a t 2 o'clock p.m., Rev. J. Barr King officiating. Burial in city cemetery. Parents: Sheldon FAIRBANKS and Mercy Ann SAGE.
