David Hughes was a bookkeeper for the Transit Authority. Later he was a noted repair pe rson of sewing machines for one of the sewing machine companies.
Cousins Don and Dave and Uncle Dave Hughes made crystal radio sets for Elaine and Vivian an d Otis's kids as Christmas presents. The Hughes boys and their dad also built a yacht calle d the Viola D. in their big shed and finally got it over to Alameda at the Aeolian Yacht Club . The yacht slept four.
David was quite a craftsman. They added a darling little house that was one bedroom, li ving room, dining and kitchen with a one car garage that faced West Street. The oldest son , David, and his wife lived in this house. Their first child, Joyce, was born there. Thei r son David III died in an automobile accident. Joyce lives around Danville.
Don had three children and his wife Helen Hoover Hughes is living around San Jose.
Aunt Viola took in children in child care for extra money. They added another story t o their house.
