William Shoemaker
William Andy (Bill) shoemaker , 75, Bucklin, died Wednesday September 16, 1998 at his daughters home in Marceline.
Shoemaker was born May 18, 1923, in West Liberty, Iowa, son of Charles and Jessie E. Call Shoemaker. He married Joan Siemens December 23, 1950. She preceded him in death August 13, 1955. He married Betty Jo David September 28, 1957 at the Christian Church in Bucklin. They were the parents of three children.
He worked at Coles store, New Cambria for 12 years, Toastmasters for eight years, and for Arnold Stanley Grocery Store, Bucklin for five years before he and his wife bought the store and operated it as Shoemaker's United Super store for 27 years before his retirement. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving from August 6, 1943 until February 18, 1946, during World War 11. He was a member of the Christian Church of Bucklin, where he was a deacon and a trustee and church board member. He was also a member of the Bucklin Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Green Hills Post No. 57, Bucklin.
survivors includes his wife of the home; two sons and daughters-in-laws;, John A. and Shelly J. Shoemaker, Bucklin, and William Bruce and Jenny A Shoemaker, Marceline; One daughter and son-in-law Cynthia Jo and Robert E. Cupp, Marceline; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Shoemaker, Bevier;
two sisters, Thelma Hulett, Bucklin; and Erma Malloy, New Cambria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence Earl and Donald Shoemaker; and two sisters Mary Anna Herrin and Rebecca Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 18, 1998 at the Christian Church in Bucklin, with Rev. James E. Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Bucklin, with military services by the American Legion Green Hills Post No. 57. Visitation will be this evening from 7 to 9 at Louis V. Scudiero & Sons Funeral Home, Bucklin.

Note School: Some of the Shoemaker children attended a one room school house near New Cambria. The name of the school was Palmyra. Bill attended that school for a while.
