RECORDS FOR "PETER KING II" &. HIS WIFE ANNA CALET -PRIOR TO THEIR IMMIGRATION TO AMERICA IN 1679
Pieter de Coninck II ("Peter King II") and his wife Anna Calet are listed as the parents of 3 children baptized at the village of Sint Anna ter Muiden in Zeeland Province of The Netherlands in the 1670's. It is quite possible that their other children (at least 2 others--to be noted in the next chapter) were baptized at some other village near Sint Anna ter Muiden for which records no longer exist. Oddly, it was not uncommon for Dutch families at this time to have children baptized at two or more churches. Why this practice was followed is not entirely clear but probably reflected either moves by the family or the custom of having "namesake" children baptized in the village of the honored relative. This could have been true for the Peter King II's.
The 3 known baptisms for children of "Peter King II" and his wife
Anna Calet follow:
1) "Pieter, bap. 26 Feb. 1671; father: Pieter de Koninck; mother: Anna Coleths; wit.: Jacob Woessen, Tanneky de Coninck, &. Jaconyntje de Puydt" (Note: this child "Pieter" who was thus Pieter de Coninck III subsequently died in 1713 in Cecil County, Maryland leaving over a thousand known descendants by 1980 who are traced in CHAPTERS 3-6 to follow)
2) "Elisabeth, bap. 4 Dec. 1675; father: Pieter de Coning; mother: Anna Colets; wit.: Anthonis de Puydt ["Anthonis" probably was Peter King II's uncle--see page 25], Elisabeth Jordaans, & Mayks Colets ["Mayks" was Anna Calet's sister]" (Later on 7 Feb 1676 there was a burial record at Sint-Anna ter Muiden for "Elisabet, child, daughter of Pieter Konink")
3) "Francois, bap. 8 Nov. 1676; father: Pieter de Coning; mother: Anna Colet; wit.: Joris Goverts & Elisabet Verstraat" (Note: "Francois" (= Francis) later died prior to 7 May 1753 in New Castle County, Delaware leaving several thousand descendants by 1980 who are traced in CHAPTERS 11-60 to follow)

THE CALET/COLLETH FAMILY

Pieter de Coninck II (Peter King II, the immigrant) married Anna Calet (also spelled Colleth) in The Netherlands prior to 1671. Their exact date of marriage was not located, however records of her parentage and family are found in church records of Sint Anna ter Muiden. Anna Calet was the daughter of Francois Colleth (Colleths) who was buried in the churchyard at Sint Anna ter Muiden. This record follows:
"25 Jan. 1663, bur. in the churchyard, Francois Colet, in his life
a Smit, van Sint Anna [a blacksmith from Sint Anna ter Muideg]"
Anna Calet's mother was "Trynken Sybouts" who was mentioned along with her daughter Anna and another daughter and son on a document dated 20 Feb 1664 listing the survivors of Francois Colleth. His 3 children living in February 1664 were:
1) ANNA COLLETH -born 1648/49 as she was listed as "age 15" in Feb 1664. (As noted, she married by 1670 to Pieter de Coninck II)
2) Jacob Colleth -born 1653/54 -"age 9" in Feb 1664.
3) Mayiken Colleth -born 1657/58 -"age 6'1 in Feb 1664. (Mayiken is no doubt the "Mayks Colets" who witnessed the baptism of one of the children of Anna Calet & Pieter de Coninck II noted later)

The baptism of this third child was listed in Sint Anna ter Muiden records while the older children (Anna and Jacob) were apparently baptized elsewhere. This suggests that the Francois Colleth family may have moved to Sint Anna ter Muiden in the mid-1650's. This 3rd child's baptism follows:
"26 Jan. 1658, Maeiken, child of Francois Coolet and Tryne Sybers,
bap. Wit.: Pieter Verstrate and Maeiken Mas"
