FIRST GENERATION1. Nicholas (Snively) Schnabele died in Mar 1854 in Bavaria. He was born in Warzhausen, Bavaria. NICHOLAS SCHNABELE (or SCHNABL) (b. prob. Warzhausen, Bavaria) married GERTRUDE HERBRUCK (or HERBRACH) of Kerschbaker Hof, Bavaria. The Von Brucks, as the name was originally, belonged to the Bavarian nobility, but became so poor that they were forced to relinquish the title. They retained the nominal title of "Herr" but dropped the "Von" to create the name HERRBRUCK (or HERBRUCK). A Philip Herbruck was mortally wounded in the Battle of Waterloo, June 15, 1815: he may have been the uncle referred to by Samuel Paul Snively as an "expert swordsman in Napoleon's army". His son, Philip, Jr., was raised by Mr. Babb, who gave him a musical education. After Mr. Babb's death, Philip came to America, settled in Canton, Ohio (a Mecca for several Snively families) and sent for the rest of the family. A panic in Canton during their first year sent the Herbrucks - three daughters and two sons, Philip and Emil - to Akron, Ohio. Though Nicholas and Gertrude (Herbruck) Schnabele probably did not come to America, the emigration of Philip (perhaps a brother, nephew or cousin of Gertrude) may have been the incentive for their son(s) to come to America and eventually to settle in Ohio. Gertrude died Feb. 19, 1840; Nicholas in March 1854. Gertrude Herbruck died on

(Snively) Schnabele and Gertrude Herbruck had the following children:
