From a letter from Noel A. Castleman in 1992:

"On my mother's side, Francis Albert Zanetti, born in Philadelphia, PA, but a citizen of Venice, Italy, emanated from a family of bankers. He was educated privately in Austria, and typical of many Northern Italians, had the blue eyes and mild complexion of that country's many Germanic invaders. He came to San Francisco, CA, with his brother Giuseppi (John) in the 1890's and there at a dance met Mathilda Carberry, fresh from Ferguson's Falls, Ontario, Canada.

Frank's other brother, Angelo, and a sister (recently discovered by me) one Madeline resided in New York City. Madeline married and lived in Brooklyn, New York---I have no additional information about her; the most recent is from 1936. Angelo lived in the West Village in New York, and plied his occupation as an artist...several of his paintings are in the United Nations Museum, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was a minor member of Alfred Stieglitz's American Place (sic. The Place), and apparently died sometime in the 1940's. To my knowledge, and certainly during my lifetime, no contact with the New York Zanetti's was made.

Tille and Frank originally lived in Lomita Park, California (a suburb of San Francisco). Frank worked at Bethlehem Steel and eventually, with the help of San Francisco Italian community members, formed the Zanetti Machine Works, a purveyor of labor and fittings to Bethlehem's submarine boat building activities.
This endeavor apparently either went bankrupt or was sold because in 1917, with the help of the now wealthy Mrs. Diericx, Frank and Mathilda acquired an apricot and prune ranch at 798 Sleeper Avenue, in Mountain View, California. They had a son, Albert Francis Zanetti, who attended the University of Santa Clara, apparently flunked out, and remained as the supervisor and manager of the Zanetti ranch until 1955, when it was sold for real estate development. He had a wife, Louella, and one daughter, Stephanie. She married Robert Van OorSchot, and has three children. Albert inherited "Aunty" Diericx's money (apparently several million.....dear "Aunty" resided at Notre Dame Hospital in San Francisco in private residence with a private physician for 11 years as a result of a stroke) and retired to Aptos, California, where he lived until his death on or about 1986."
