Notes for Henry Adkins Hart:
Henry Adkins Hart was born 8/25/1838 and died 3/5/1925. He is buried at Owasso,Oklahoma, Tulsa County. The name of the cemetery is Fairview. It is located on East 71 Street North in Owasso. Henry A. Hart served in the Civil War in the milia under Captain Reuben Stanley and Captain Beaty. (I think he married the daughter of Reuben Stanley) . In 1849 he moved to Carroll Co. MO, in 1853 he moved to Callaway Co, MO and in 1857 back to Carroll Co. In 1876 he was living in Carrollton, MO. He was a Mason and farmer. I have also been told he was a teacher. He had a white goatee, mustache. He owned two sections of land west of Owasso, Oklahoma. My Uncle Frank bought this property and his son Willie (Bud) obtained ownership. His widow, Janet, presently lives on part of this property. I am not sure if it is all of the original land. A probate record on H.A.Hart, Sr. was filed #8202 Tulsa County Court House on March 24, 1932. I have been told that he moved to Indian Territory (near present Owasso) via a covered wagon and driving 10,000 mules. ???I don't know how my grandfather Abraham Lincoln Kauffman became acquainted with this family. He married my grandmother Mary Bennett Hart, daughter of Henry. A. Hart. Jesse Madison came to Oklahoma with the Harts. Jesse Madison is identified on the 1880 census of Carroll Co., MO as living with the Harts, states - taken to nurse 11 months old. Copies this in 1997 - Jeanette Girkin

(***Important Information - Obtained from Helen Edgington of Tulsa March 11, 2000. Several years ago I received a phone call from Helen when I joined the Tulsa Genealogical Society. She asked how I was related to the Harts. She told me that her grandfather Jesse Mattison was raised by Henry and Paralee Hart. I didn't know that much about the history at that time and failed to get in touch with her again. Today I called her and found out this information. Her grandfather as I said above was Jesse Mattison, not Madison as identified on the 1870 census. His father was Charles Ward Mattison and his mother was Martha Brown. She thinks Jesse was originally were from Michigan and Martha was originally from Canada. The story that has been told in their family is that they were traveling in a covered wagon, possibly going to southern MO, where some of their Mattison relatives lived. Her mother died somewhere on the way and when they pulled into the yard of Henry A. Hart, her father died. Jesse was 2 years of age and his sister Hattie was 4. She was raised by ? Andrew Jackson Hart. A census record identifies her as a servant, however she was raised as a daughter. (I have seen this census record somewhere, but cannot find it now.) Henry raised Jesse as his own and Jesse said he was a very kind and caring person. She knew Jack, ADD, Nora and Sam. Nora was her grandmother's sister. Her grandmother was Emma Scott Mattison) Helen's parents were Charles (Roscoe) and Ruth Mattison. Roscoe had a welding shop close to Turk's creamery in Collinsville. I have heard this name mentioned before. Helen has a sister named Alma. Her great grandparents were Pleasant Winfield Scott and Martha Ellen Shannon Scott.
Helen had been told they lived in Livingston County. I think this county is next to Carrollton County.

She loaned pictures and family history to Leo Sheehan. He died and when she contacted his widow she was told to come by and pick these up. When she did the papers were sitting on the front porch but there were no pictures. She had a picture of Henry Hart that I had sent to her.

Page 660 - Henry A. Hart was born August 25, 1838 in Callaway Co, MO. In 1849 he moved to Carroll county and lived there four years, returned to Callaway county. In 1857 he again moved to Carroll county, and has since made this county his home. He has followed the occupation of farming all of his life. In November, 1858, he married Miss Parlee Standley, daughter of Reuben Standley . During the war Mr. Hart was in the militia under Capts. Standley and Beatty; he is the father of eight children, seven of whom are still living, and named as follows: William F., Mary B., Andrew J., Rilla M., Emma J., Sophia L., and Henry A. I believe his full name is Andrew Jackson Hart. He is buried next to his sister Emma at Fairlawn Cemetery, Owasso, Oklahoma - the lot is identified as Block 4, Lot 9. Jack is identified on the 1920 census as living with his father Henry A. Hart age 81, his sister Emma J, age 45, Henry A. Jr., and Josie Hart a sister. I believe this sister is a half-sister by Henry's father Alfred Evans Hart. Roll is #67, state of OK, Vol 71, E.D. 178, Sheet 8, Line 69, place of birth is Missouri.
A.J. is identified as age 50 on this census.

vi.      Emma Joe Hart, born June 02, 1876 in Carrollton, Carroll County, MO ?; died October 26, 1946 in Owasso, Tulsa Co., OK.

Notes for Emma Joe Hart:
Emma Hart, age 45, was living with her father Henry Adkins Hart in 1920 census, roll 67, Vol 71, E.D. 178, Sheet 8, Line 69.
Place of birth is identified as Missouri. Also living in the home are Andrew J., age 50; Henry A. Jr., age 39 and Josie (Who I believe is a half-sister of Henry A. Hart.) Her father would have been Alfred Evans Hart. Date copied 1998 by Jeanette Girkin
She is buried in Block 4, Lot 9 - she is buried behind her mother and father in the older section of the cemetery. The cemetery book does not show the lot number. This is identified on page 29 of the Cemetery Record Book at the Owasso City Hall.

Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Owasso, Tulsa Co., OK

vii.      Henry A. (AD) Hart, born May 30, 1881; died in Owasso, Tulsa Co., Oklahoma.

Notes for Henry A. (AD) Hart:
H.A. "Add" Hart is buried at Fairview Owasso Cemetery. He is to the right of Roy, son of Sam and Nora Hart. To the left of Roy is Parlee and Henry A. Hart, his parents.

In the 1920 census of OK, Vol 71, E.D. 178, Shee 8, Line 69, it shows that H.A. Hart, age 39, born in MO is living with his father Henry Hart, age 81, birthplace MO. Also in the home are Emma J. Hart, age 45, Andrew J., age 50 and Josie Hart, identified as a sister. This has to be a daughter of Alfred Evans Hart and a half-sister to Henry Hart. I have looked in the record book for a place of burial for Josie hart and could not find her name. Many of the older records were destroyed.

See notes regarding Jesse Mattison under his father Henry A. Hart. Helen Edgington said that Add was a very kind, quiet, gentle man. He was also a wolf hunter. Someone use to come to our place near Vera, Oklahoma to hunt wolves, perhaps this was the person. - Jeanette Redman

Notes for Sam Hart:
I remember visiting Sam and Nora Hart at their home west of Owasso, OK many times. He was my dad's uncle. He and Nora are buried in lots purchased by Henry A. Hart? in Block 4, Lot 9 - really not sure of the lot number since the cemetery book at the Owasso City Hall does not identify the lots.
Found this info March 7, 2000 - Jeanette Kauffman Redman

March 11, 2000 - Talked to Helen Edgington - Tulsa. See notes under Henry A. Hart. Helen knew Sam and Nora. Nora was her grandmother's sister. She said that they all went to Collinsville on Saturdays to shop. her parents were Charles (Roscoe) and Ruth Mattison. She said that Nora's sons would never teach her to drive, so one day she took the car into the pasture and learned to drive. Sam never learned to drive a car. She said that her ? Jerry, her son, was sitting on Sam's lap when he died. They were very close to this family.

Sam and Nora had three children who died, Jack was born 1/10/1914 and died 8/29/1938 as a result of an auto accident, Roy was born 10/26/1918 and died 11/7/1922. He was kicked in the head by a mule. (Great grandpa Henry had many mules.) Nina was born 9/27/1925 (my birthday is also 9/27) and died 9/5/1926.

This information was obtained March 11, 2000 - Jeanette Kauffman Redman
