Notes for Peter Lenhardt:
This is from a document on the Lenhardt, Sixel families -- probably as told by Aunt Lena

The Lenhardt add Sixel families lived near the Rhine River. Peter and Mary, both age 25, were married May 1, 1870 in Germany. Their son Peter was born in Bell on July 27, 1871. Peter didn't want to serve in the army, which was mandatory at that time, so they immigrated to America in 1872 locating first in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then to Michigan and back to Wisconsin.

Son Peter's obit says he was 11 months old when he came to America, which would be June of 1872 and that year agrees with Mary's obit, but his daughter Lena Kupke wrote that he was 7 weeks old when he came to America, which would be September of 1871. (How long was the ship journey? Manybe they left Bell when he was 6 weeks old and arrived in Milwaukee at 11 months?)

A daughter, Mary, was born May 18, 1873 in Marquette, Michigan and son Jacob was born June 30, 1875 in Green Bay Wisconsin. They came to Sarpy County near Omaha, Nebraska in 1876/77 where Peter worked in a stone quarry and farmed near Papillion. Anna was born February 3, 1877 and Helen was born March 17, 1879 and died the following November. Lena was born in 1880 and William in 1882, both in Omaha, and their last child Minnie was born in 1888 in Blair. Lena remembers living in a dugout and having a cow step through the roof. In 1904, they moved to 1602 West 81st Street in South Omaha where Peter was in charge of the street department. The Lenhardts moved to Stanton Co., Nebraska in 1913/16. Mary had a sister there, Anna Sixel Trampe. Peter and Mary lived with their daughter Lena and her husband Al Bauman on a farm. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May of 1920 and Mary passed away the following July at age 75. Peter continued to lived with the Baumans probably until they moved to Fremont. In the Spring of 1937, he went to live in Powell, Wyoming with another daughter, Anna Bullock, where he passed away in May at the age of 93 after being ill one week. They are both buried at West Lawn Cemetary in Omaha.

A note from a relative said "when Peter came to visit them he always enjoyed reading especially the Bible and made several predictions which really came true, such as trouble with China and Russia, etc."
