5. Jeremiah MAIN (Ezekiel ) was born 1 Apr 1678 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut and was christened 1678 in 1st Church of Stonington, Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. He died 11 Nov 1727 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.

Jeremiah lived at Stonington CT where he died November 11, 1727. He married at Stonington, October 11, 1699, Mrs. Ruth Brown, a widow, much search has failed to disclose her maiden name or the name of her first husband. When the first Church was formed in what is now North Stonington, Jeremiah Maine and his wife Ruth were among the first members. In his will dated February 24, 1726, Jeremiah names his three youngest sons, Nathaniel, John and Peter; his three eldest daughters not named, he names his youngest daughter, Hepzibah, and names his wife, Ruth as sole executor. He also gives five shillings to Ruth, wife of John Butler. She was Ruth Brown, daughter, of his wife by her first marriage.

The following Information was collected by Vera Main Robinson.
JEREMIAH MAIN'S WILL, found in New London Probate Volume C:285. It was written Feb. 4, 1725/6, proved Dec. 5, 1727.
To wife Ruth 1/3 of real and personal estate during natural life. Also gave her a mare with bool face and her coat.
To youngest sons Nathaniel, John and Peter all alnd and buildings that I have not disposed of already.
To Ruth Buttler(daughter of wife by her first marriage) wife of John Buttler 5 shillings.
To 3 eldest daughters 5 shillings apiece. To Hepyobe (Hepsibah) my youngest daughter 30 pounds 5 shillings.
To wife all movables left after legacies paid. Wife sole executor.

Jeremiah married Ruth on 11 Oct 1696 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. Ruth was born about 1682 and was christened 16 Jul 1699 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. She died in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.

Research failed to disclose her maiden name or name of her first husband. When the First Church was formed in what is now North Stonington. Jeremiah and Ruth were amoung its first members.
