Samuel first settled in Brunswick ME., figures conspicuousily in Lovewell's War in 1722. Capt Giles sent "Eaton" from Fort George to Colonel John Harmon at Georgetown. A letter tied in eel skin concealed in his hair, when unsafe to travel by land, Eaton took to the water and swam, reaching his destination in safety.
