SECOND GENERATION

10. Ruth Esther SCHUMACHER was born on 30 Nov 1895 in Altamont, IL. She died on 10 Dec 1980 in Effingham, IL. Ruth was baptized and confirmed in the German Methodist Church in Altamont. Clarence and Ruth were married in the home of her father by Rev. Zeimer. Together they ran a furniture and hardware store in Altamont for over 40 years. They lived most of their married life on a farm one mile west of Altamont. It was on this farm that John, Marilyn and Gene were born. They moved to the city of Altamont where they lived until their deaths. Clarence died January 17, 1967 of a heart attack and Ruth died of kidney failure and a stroke in the hospital at Effingham, Il. They were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ruth was active in the Ladies Aide of the church, the Women' Club of Altamont, Home Bureau Extension and the Friendship Circle. (Updated 1999)

She was married to Clarence Edwin MILLEVILLE (son of John F. MILLEVILLE and Lillie HILLEMANN) on 9 Jun 1920 in Altamont, IL. Clarence Edwin MILLEVILLE was born on 20 Sep 1892 in Altamont, IL. He died on 17 Jan 1967 in Effingham, IL. Clarence was born and lived his entire life in and around Altamont. He was baptized, confirmed and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church his entire life. He attended Mound Elementary School. He owned Milleville Hardware and Furniture store from 1919 until he sold it in the sixties. For a number of years he ran a Funeral Home in Altamont. During the last years of his life he assisted at the Giesking Funeral Home. The afternoon of his death he had assisted with a service of a local man held at the Methodist Church. Cause of death was a heart attack.
Clarence and Ruth were married at the home of her father. The pastor was Rev. Ziemer from the Lutheran Church. Most of their married life they lived on a farm one mile west of Altamont, later moving into a home near the Methodist Church in Altamont, where they lived until their deaths. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, Men's Club at the church and other community activities.
