30. James Marion LIVELY ⁽¹⁾ was born on 31 Oct 1882 in Blair Township, Clay Co., Il.. He died on 3 Feb 1969 in Mattoon, Coles Co., Il.. He was buried on 6 Feb 1969 in Dodge Grove Cem., Mattoon, Il.. Rev. James Marion Lively received a B.A. degree from Millikin Univ. and an M.A. and a Bachelor of Divinity from the University of Chicago. He and his family resided at Decatur and Tuscola, Il. before moving to Mattoon, Il. inf 1916. He served as the minister of the First Baptist Church of Mattoon from 1916 to 1947 and as minister emeritus of this church from his retirement in 1947 until his death in 1969. He also served as interim pastor of the Tuscola Baptist Church for several years during his retirement years. At the time of his retirement in 1947, it was calculated he had previously officiated at 532 weddings, conducted 1,267 funerals, baptized 926 persons, preached 3,875 sermons, held revival meetings at 47 churches, and gave commencement addresses at 65 high schools.

He was married to Ora Edna FURSTENBERG on 23 Jun 1908 in Pleasant Valley E.U.B. Church, Mosquito Twp., Christian, Il.. Ora Edna FURSTENBERG was born on 28 Dec 1883 in Mosquito Twp., Il.. She died on 8 Jul 1967 in Mattoon, Coles Co., Il.. She was buried in Dodge Grove Cem., Mattoon, Il..
