Jonathat II Latimer (b. May 27, 1724, d. October 13, 1806)
Jonathat II Latimer (son of Jonathan I Latimer and Borodell Denison) was born May 27, 1724 in New London Ct., and died October 13, 1806 in Tennessee. He married Lucretia Griswold on January 28, 1747/48 in New London Ct., daughter of George Sr Rev Griswold and Hannah Lynde.

Colonel Jonathan Latimer 11 and Lucretia Griswold Latimer had 14 children 10 of them boys. He once bragged that himself and 6 of them measured 42 ft., which means that they were all 6 ft. tall, a rare occurrence in Hise days. Colonel Latimer served in several campaigns against the French upon the northern frontier, and during the War of Independence, and was much of the time in the field. Two of his sons, George and Jonathan III were also in the service. About 1790, Colonel Jonathan Latimer II and his entire family, their wives and children left for Sumner County, Tennessee. His 8th child Robert Latimer, his wife Lucinda and 4 of their children, including first born Ann (Fannie) Latimer, 4 yrs old made the move.
Col. Jonathan Latimer's Children were: Hannah, b. 22 July, 1749 m. Daniel Rogers. They settled in Tenn. George, b. 15 Dec., 1750 m. Rachel Smith 10 Oct., 1773 Borrodill, b. 17 Sept., 1750, died young. Jonathan III, b. 12 Apr., 1755 Borrodill, b. 18 Mar., 1757 Wetherell, b. 30 Jan., 1759 m. Abigail Fitch Charles, b. 02 Nov., 1760, settled in Tenn. Robert, b. 08 Jan., 1763, settled in Tenn. and killed by Indians Nicholas, b. 18 Sept., 1764, probably died young Griswold, b. 18 June, 1766, settled in Tenn. Joseph, b. 25 Feb., 1768, settled in Tenn. Nathaniel, b. 04 May, 1771, settled in Tenn. Daniel, b. 21 July, 1773 Lucretia, b. Abt. 1774
At the end of the war Jonathan left the Connecticut Militia and, with seven of his sons, removed from Montville, Ct. to Tennessee. Col. Latimer never lived to reach his contemplated destination, dying en route. His sons settled in the Tennessee countryside and became ancestors of numerous descendants living in the Western States.
