On Captain George Denison and Ann's return to Roxbury, the young couple was royally welcomed. The governor Of Mass. John Winthrop noted in his diary, the return of the young captain out of the wars in England, has become quite a hero. His bride charmed everyone. She was tall with brown hair and blue eyes, very pretty. But more than that she was so kind and gracious, so true a gentlewoman that the neighbors called her "Lady Ann"
