William Summers (b. April 26, 1726, d. Aft. June 04, 1799)
William Summers (son of John E. Summers and Mary Moore) was born April 26, 1726 in Prince Georges Co., Maryland, and died Aft. June 04, 1799 in Iredell Co., North Carolina. He married (1) Cassandra Ellis. He married (2) Mary Wheat on February 10, 1744/45 in Iredell Co., North Carolina, daughter of William "Capt. Billy" Wheat and Amy Mary Wall.

""In the name of God Amen this the fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine. I Wm Summers of the County of Iredell and State of North Carolina being aged and weak in body but of sound mind and perfect memory and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say Principaly and first of all. I resign my soul to God who gave it and my body to be buried in a desent manner at the discretion of my Executors and touching such worldly things where with it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and disposed of in the following manner and form.Viz. I give unto my daughter Amey Howard ten pounds and no more of my estate.Item I give unto my son John Summers three hundred acres of land that was conveyed to him by Alexander Read and no more of my Estate.Item I give unto my daughter Linney Summers ten pounds and no more of my Estate.Item I give unto my dauter Biney Belt but ten pounds and no more of my Estate.Item I give unto my son Wm Summers negro Matt aslo one hundred acres of land bein a part of the tract that was conveyed the aforesaid Alexr Read unto John Summers.I give unto my dauter Mary Jacob one negroe boy Isac.Item I give unto my dauter Darkey Jacob negroe Sam.Item I give unto my dauter Bithe Tombelson negroe little George.Item I give unto my beloved wife Cassandra negroe boy James one negro girl nancy two beds and furniture one set cups and saucers one glass tumbler one grey mare foal one large trunk. I also give unto my beloved wife one hundred acers of land including the plantation whereon my son Basil now lives during her natrual life or widowhood.I give unto the heirs of my son Thomas decd twenty shillings and no more of my Estate.Item I give unto my grandson William Jacobs Summers five pounds in money and four head of sheep.I give unto my son Basil Summers my home plantation including an entry of fifty acres that is joining it and at the death or marriage of my beloved wife to have that hundred acres that he now lives on to him his heirs assigns forever. I also give unto him my negroes big George and Sal, one dish, one waggon with her gears and horse rocks.Item I also give to my daughter Bitha Tomlinson negro boy Ned.Item I leave all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal to be sold and all of my just debts to be paid with the legacees by this will made and the balance to be equally divided between my beloved wife Cassandra, my son William my dauter Mary Jacobs, my dauter Darkey Jacobs, my dauter Betha Tombelson and my son Basil Summers.Last of all I order and ordain my son Basil Summers and my trusty friend Burgess Gaither executors to this my last will and testament, revoking and disanuling all wills heretofore by me made. "Mary appears to be the daughter of William and Amy Wall Wheat. Prince George's Land Records Liber RR /142 records the following "Mary Wall of Prince George's CO for natural love and affection I bear to my beloved grandchildren Mary Summers wife of William Summers, William Wheat Jun and Sarah Nabis wife of John Nabis after my decease and the decease of my daughter Amy Wheat all the estate, property and Interest except my negro man Thane which I give to granddaughter Mary Summers to be equally divided among my said grandchildren.......William Wheat husband of said Amy shall have no property after her decease". Dated 10 Jul 1761.LWT of William Wheat bequeaths to daughter Mary Wheat, wife of William Summers, one negro woman named Chloe and her child Sam and "all belonging to me" and appoints them his Executors. Dated 7 Jan 1767; proved 18 Mar 1767. (Frederick Will Bk A/287).LWT of William Wheat is dated 16 Apr 1767 (Testamentary Proceedings Vol 42/107). In the June Court of that year William Summers is identified as the Executor of the Will of William Wheat (Ibid /155)Petrucelli (Opus Cit, p 600) identifies Mary Wheat Summers as the daughter of William and Sarah Pardue Wheat.
