A twin to Abram Devoor.Andrew,was a native of France,& died about 1830 at the extreme old age of 97. He was a General in the French Army,also a soldier in theRevolution.Several of his children were in the war of 1812.He was known as "The Old General De Vore".He was a tall,powerful man, and the old sword of the manhung from his bed post.When Penn.was frist settled he and a brother took up a whold township(Mingo ownship,Washington Co.) but were not allowed to take out apatents on more than half of that amount.DEATH: WILL BK 5 PP 213

Will of ANDREW }
DEVORE, DEC'D { In the name of God Amen I Andrew Devore of
the township of Nottingham }
County of Washington and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania being weak of body
but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God do this fifteenth day of
November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty
two do make ordain and declare this my last will and testament in form
and manner following viz. First I do resign my soul into the hands of the
Almighty God who give it me and secondly my body unto the earth to be
buried in a decent and christian like manner and as to what worldly
effectsit hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and bequeath in the
manner following viz. First I do give unto my son James Devore one
hundred & thirty two acres of land & one half it is the same place
whereon Richard Grimes now lives which said land was surveyed by Joe Moss
on the 4 April 1810 at my request.Second I do give unto my son Adam
Devore one hundred and thirty two Acres & one hundred and thirty perches
of land where he now lives which land was alsosurveyed by Joseph Moss on
the 4th day of April 1810 by my orders. Third I do give unto my son
William DeVore one hundred and thirty two acres and one half of land
whereon he now lives which land was also surveyed by Joseph Moss on the
4th day of April 1810 by my orders. Fourth I do give unto my daughter
Polly Gamble one hundred Acres of land be the same or less whereon Aron
Gamble Sr. now lives which land was also surveyed by Joseph Moss on the
4th day of April 1810 by my orders. Fifth I do give & bequeath unto my
son Henry Devore one hundred and thirty two acres and one half of land
whereon he now lives which said land was surveyed and laid of by Joseph
Moss by my order the 4th day of April 1810. Sixth I do give & bequeath to
my daughter Elizabeth Leech and her children Margaret and Andrew and any
children she may have hereafter have and share alike & the share of
Elizabeth at her death to go to her children one hundred and thirty two
acres and one half of land whereon the said Elizabeth Leech now lives
which said land was surveyed and laid off by Joseph Moss by my orders the
4th day of April 1810 & if it should hereafter come to pass that the said
Elizabeth Leech should come to want with poverty she is to have a decent
maintaince off the land above willed to her & her children. Seventh there
is one hundred and thirty acres of land whereon John McCluggage nowlives
adjoining lands of L. Whitley B. Williams & other more or less, I do
hereby authorize and impower Adam & Henry Devore my two sons and
executors to this my will and testament to sell the last 132 acres of
land at any time after my decease at public vendue for the best price
they can git for the sameand each of my sons & daughter to have equal
share of the price of said landshare and share alike and my executors to
make good title or conveyance for said land to the person purchasing the
same also
