James Jacobus Devore (son of Daniel Deveaux and Engeltje Cornelis)¹⁵ was born 1707 in Washington Co. Pa.USA¹⁵, and died 1779 in Yohogania, Va¹⁵. He married Eva Dingeman on Abt. 1738¹⁵.

Twim to Rachel,James wrote his will on Nov. 14, 1778. It was probated in Mar 1779, in Washington Pa. Inventory of the estate was filed on 3 Jun 1779. It Totaled 2129 pounds sterling, of which 800 pounds was for a negro wench and child. The will mentioned his wife Elizabeth and 7 eldest children and 5 under age.James settled on the north side of the Monongahela River opposite the present site of the Monongahela,Pa. He as the first of his family to be born in the USA, About 1770. James ran a ferry there wntil his death in 1779. Where he lived, was apart of Cumberland Co. Pa. until1771 Of Restraver Twp, Westmoreland (formerly Bedford) Co. Pa. This became Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co, in 1788. It is now part of Forward Twp, Allegheny Co,Pa.
