John Fox, Sr. exact burial site is unknown and it is suggested that he was buried on the farm of his father-in-law, Francis Huff.

Little is known of the Virginia Foxes and the beginning if our line. Our earliest known ancestor is a John Fox, born in Virginia, November 1795. His name can be found in the census records of 1820 & 1830 of Augusta County It is speculated that he may have come from the line of Fox Families in Amherst County. As yet we have no proof of his parentage. Adding to the lack of proof is the fact that John signed his own marriage bond, proving he had some education since he could read and write. It was the custom, at that time, for the parents of the couple to sign the marriage bonds for their children. The Marriage Bond for John Fox and Barbara Huff was dated 27 January 1819, Augusta County, Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia and was signed by John Fox and Francis Huff, Barbara's father, with the marriage on the some day.

John Fox was a shoemaker by trade. Records have not been found to indicate that John Fox ever owned land. After John Fox and Barbara Huff were married they lived in Montgomery County near Christiansburg, Virginia, a part of Montgomery County now Greenbrier, West Virginia. Four of their children were born in Greenbrier, West Virginia. After moving back to Augusta County they lived in Jennings Gap, near Barbara's family. Along with his shoemaking trade, it is believed he farmed land belonging to his father-in-law Francis Huff, possibly just helping farm the Huff land.

John Fox died at age 45 years, on October 27, 1839, after long and painful illness. He was survived by his wife Barbara and their nine children. His obit stated " he was a kind and affectionate father. In his last moments of life he expressed a strong confidence that he found peace and acceptance with his maker and that he awaited the time of release from his earthly sufferings". His burial site is unknown, it is speculated he may have been buried on the Huff farm, in Jenning's Gap.

Barbara (Huff) Fox, daughter of Francis and Sarah (unk) Huff, was born about 1789-91 in Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia. After John Fox, her husband, died Barbara moved her family to Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia, to live with her son Oscar J. Fox. On November 5, 1859, she died of "consumption" and she is buried in Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia.
