Robert Dunlap (son of John Dunlap I and Nancy Colvin)^{280, 281, 282} was born March 03, 1765 in Campbellstown - Kintyre, Scotland^{283, 284}, and died March 27, 1847 in Middlebrook, Augusta County, Virginia, USA²⁸⁵. He married Margaret Kerr on November 01, 1792 in Augusta County, Virginia, USA^{285, 285, 285}, daughter of Robert Kerr and Elizabeth Bailey.

He was born in Scotland. He married, in Virginia, Margaret Kerr, a daughter of Robert Kerr of Fifeshire, Scotland, November 1, 1792. They lived in Augusta County, Virginia, USA. He served in the Revolutionary War. Residence: Summerdean, Virginia, USA.

His gravestone says:

The Grave of
Robert Dunlap
who departed this life
March 27th
1847
Aged 82 Years, 1 Month
and 13 Days
Jesus receives him in his arms
And claims him for his own.

While at New Register House in Edinburgh I ordered a copy of his birth records, it says: "Extract of an entry in an Old Parochial Register in the Parish of Campbeltown in the County of Argyll, from the Register of Births and Baptisms: March 1765: Robert; John Dunlop and Isabel Colvin had a son born the 3d and baptised the 7th March called Robert." Family records passed down in the family called his Campbeltown born mother "Isobell," Nancy Colvin instead.

Many family records state he was born 14th Feb 1765, which I assume is based on using the age on his stone above. The Works Progress Administration's Historical Inventory of Shemariah says he was 23 days instead of the 13 that I believe appears in this picture. An inspection of the stone may clear this up. Regardless, I think the birth register above is likely more accurate.

He served here in the Revolutionary War and resided in Summerdean Township. His wife Margaret is buried here also.
