7th Earl Of Carrick Robert De Bruce III (b. June 1243, d. March 1304)

Robert De Bruce III (son of Robert De Bruce II and Isobel De Clare)²³⁹ was born June 1243 in Annandale, Dumfrieshire, Scotland, and died March 1304 in Writtle, County Essex, England. He married Marjorie De Carrick on 1271 in Turnberry Castle, Ayreshire, Scotland²³⁹, daughter of Neal De Carrick and Margaret Stewart.

Notes for Robert De Bruce III:
The Anglo-Norman family of Bruce, which had come to Scotland in the early 12th century, was related by marriage to the Scottish royal family, and hence the sixth Robert de Bruce (died 1295), grandfather of the future king (Robert I de Bruce), claimed the throne when it was left vacant in 1290. Robert de Brus (Bruce) was Earl of Carrick, Lord of Annandale.
