On October 19. a Priceville area girl was involved in an accident about 1.5 miles east of the village. Elizabeth Mather was returning from a shopping trip to Flesherton by horse and buggy when the C.P.R. train approached the crossing unnoticed by her. The horse took fright, upsetting the buggy and threw Elizabeth onto a flat car. The train men uncoupled the engine and rushed the girl to Priceville, where Dr. Hutton had to amputate her leg, using the dining room table as an operating table. The wound did not heal very well and after the second amputation, very little was left of the thigh. Elizabeth was fitted with an artificial limb two years later. As a result of that accident, an overhead bridge was built at the crossing. Taken from 'Priceville and its Roots Routes' pg 194 Parents: John Mather and Mary Laidlaw. Isabel

Within a mark of the highest age allotted to man there passed peacefully away to her everlasting home on Saturday morning the 18th Jan., Catherine McDonald, relic of the late Rev. Robert McIntyre, native of the Isle of Mull, Scotland at the age of seventy nine years. In the death of Mrs. McIntyre a connecting link has been broken between the present and past for a mother of the South line, Glenelg, has fallen and the home she occupied for fifty-five years shall know her no more forever. In reviewing the Christian life and character of the subject of our sketch we have to confess that words fails us to do her justice for in her we had a lady who was in possession of all the good qualities that marked the upright woman. In the year 1853 Mrs. McIntyre left with her husband the land of her birth in Scotland when only twenty-four years of age being a woman whose personality was hard to excel. She kept her youthful appearance till old age had overtaken her. To many a home in the locality Mr. McIntyre will be remembered as one who took delight in visiting the sick and needful as many will bear us up in testifying to our personal experience of her visitations in the time of sickness and death. In religion Mrs. McIntyre was a true and constant member of the Baptist denomination being converted in the days of her youth and was a true helpmate to her husband in the early history of the place in accompanying him to his several preaching stations on foot going some 3,4 and 8 miles often on a Sunday morning after doing her household duties before going. Mrs. McIntyre saw husband, sons and daughters taken by death but like one of old her expressions were that the Lord gave and He took away nothing but what He gave. To those faithful daughters and sons, who administered to the wants of a loving mother during her long illness it is a source of comfort to them to reflect on the past, as they naturally mourn the loss of a loving parent, they have the comforting assurance that they do so without a shadow of doubt that their loss is their dear mother's gain. To the sons and daughters far away in distant lands the news of the death of a loving mother will be to them a message of sorrow and as they think of the days of their youth when an unbroken family assembled at the family altar and if ever they will be privileged to meet again they will find that the old arm chair is empty and the expressions if not in words will be in thoughts. What is home without a mother. The funeral on Monday, the 20th January was a large one in spite of the bad condition of the roads. The Rev. Mr. Matheson, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Berry, preached the funeral sermon in the absence of her Pastor Mr. Kipp. Mr. Matheson took for his text "I know in whom I believed," in eulogizing the Christian life of the subject that brought so many together the speaker referred to the genuineness of her religious characteristics and that she could teach him and many of his co-workers in the ministry a lesson. After which the Rev. Mr. Berry led in prayer. The hymn "My Heavenly Home" was sung. The pall-bearers were: Alfred Hincks, Roger McEachern, Donald McMillan, Hugh McKinnon, Arch. Ferguson and John McDonald. Undertaker Mr. Colin McMillan, of Dromore. The remains were laid beside her husband, son and two daughters, who died one 3 years ago and one last June. The husband died 23 years ago and her son, Alex died 29 years ago. Land Record Office Lot 48 Concession 3 SDR Record of Catherine's transaction with this land.
