A quiet and charming evening wedding took place on Saturday at 6 o'clock at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C, A, Harris, Dundas Street, London, when Barbara Birdene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Mitchell, of Lakeside was married to Orlando A. Taylor, son of Henry Taylor, of London. Rev. A. A. Brice, rector of All Saints Church, officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, was unattended. She wore a smart frock of seal brown lace and georgette over cloth of gold, with gold cloth girdle, brown lace stockings and brown satin Colonial pumps. Her bouquet was of pale pink roses showered with pink and gold streamers caught with Sweetheart roses. The house was delightfully decorated with pale pink mums, roses, palms and ferns, and a dainty buffet supper was served after the ceremony. Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Taylor left to spend a short honeymoon in Detroit, and will, on their return live on Ridout Street, south. The bride traveled in a smart tailored suit of navy blue with collar of fur and small black velvet had modishly boaded in white. Mrs. C. A. Harris, sister of the bride, was gowned in periwinkle blue canton crepe beaded in silver, and wore a corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Mitchell, mother of the bride. was gowned in black charmeuse with corsage of red roses. There were very few guests, including only immediate relatives and friends including Mrs. (Dr.) Sparks of St. Marys, Miss Jean Seaton and the bride's parents of Lakeside.

The above came from Kent, England in 1804 with his mother and his two sisters, their Mother's father and Mother also came to the state of New York. They settled in Henderson, Jefferson Co. New York where his grandfather and mother are buried. His mother (Ann Burley) married again and she is buried there with her second husband. His two sisters married and their descendants are in the states to this day. The above Eliza Parker also lived in Henderson with her father and that is how she knew the above Charles B. Mitchell. They came to Canada in 1827 and were married in what is now the city of London, Middlesex Co. Ontario, or Upper Canada in 1828. They first settled in Zorra, Oxford County, in 1829 and in March 1835 they came to what is now the village of Lakeside, Oxford Co., Upper Canada and settled on a grant of land, Lot 25, Con. 12, East Nissouri Township, Oxford Co. just outside of Lakeside. Charles was also in the Rebellion of 1837. He was against the rebels. The house which he built stood there up to 1959 when a new house was built on the old site of the old home. The Mitchell family had lived on the land since 1835. They are buried in the Christ Church Anglican Cemetery at Lakeside, which opened in 1863.

Dear Brother of Mrs. Barbara Taylor, London. Predeceased by sisters, Edna Harris, Margaret Ward, London and a brother Harold, Sarnia. Several nieces and nephews survive. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Branch 236, St. Marys Legion. Resting at the L.A. Ball Funeral Chapel, St. Marys, where the funeral service will be held Monday, October 6, at 2 p.m. Interment in Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery. Donations to Christ Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Royal Canadian Legion service Sunday evening.
