It is reported this family lived at or near a village by the name of Coryton, near Tavistock, Devonshire, England. It must be presumed that Susanna and John Rowe died and are buried at or near Coryton or Tavistock, Devonshire, England.

We do not know how many children Susanna and John Rowe really had, but on April 22 1784, a son Thomas was born, he was baptized the next day, April 23 1784, in the Anglican Parish Church in Coryton, Devonshire. He was raised at or near Coryton, Devonshire.

On March 22 1882 he married Margaret Jane Skelton, born May 16 1858, on the East Half of Lot # 32, Concession # 11, East Zorra Township, Oxford County. After their marriage they lived on the East Half of Lot # 24 Concession # 11, East Zorra Township, Oxford County. Their four children are listed in the Family Page.

Margaret Jane (Skelton) Rowe, b 1858, died June 9 1892. She was buried in the Baptist Cemetery, on Cassel Road, one mile north of Hickson, Ontario.

On October 4 1893, John Cotton Rowe, b 1857, married Sarah Skelton, b March 8 1853, (Margaret Jane's older sister). They had no children. Sarah Rowe died December 18 1936, John Cotton Rowe, died December 21 1938. They were both buried in the Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock, Ontario.

On July 29 1914, he married Sarah Clarkson Rowe, born June 15 1887, on the East Half of Lot # 24 Concession # 11, East Zorra Township, Oxford County. After their marriage they lived for 12 years on the East Half of Lot # 16, Concession # 11, East Zorra Township, Oxford county, (six miles north of Woodstock on # 59 Highway). They had six children (listed on the Family Page).

Sarah Clarkson (Rowe) Blake died December 12 1929, William Percy Blake died November 6 1960. They were both buried with their daughter Dorothy Irene in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Woodstock, Ontario.

Thomas Rowe, b March 11 1824, at Middlemoor, near Whitchurch, Devonshire, it must be presumed he was raised and lived in this area until 1848, when he emigrated to Canada at the age of 21 years. It is reported Thomas's brother John travelled to Canada twice, first with is sisters, Susan and Jane, after returning to England, John 'might' have returned to Canada the second time in 1848 with his younger brother Thomas. We have no definite date on John's second crossing. There is no information on where Thomas lived or how he made a living from 1848, until he bought his first property in 1850. We do know his sister, Susan who came to Canada in 1842, was married to Thomas Loveys. As Susan and Thomas Loveys lived on a farm lot only two miles distant from Thomas's farm. From 1848 when he arrived in Canada until the summer of 1850. when he bought his first land, Thomas likely lived in the Hickson area.

On July 31st 1850, Thomas Rowe bought 25 acres, being the North West quarter of the West Half of Lot # 23, Concession # 12, East Zorra Township, Oxford County. In the next year, 1851, Thomas Rowe married his first wife, Elizabeth Jane Kelloway, b in 1828. (In at least one early written Rowe Family Tree, Elizabeth Jane Kelloway's last name is spelled, 'Callaway', it is thought from mispronunciation, her name for more than 40 years has been incorrectly spelled).

I know very little about my Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Jane Kelloway, born in 1828, it is reported she was born in Scotland. It would appear Elizabeth had at least one brother, William, who also lived in the Kickson area. In later years Thomas Rowe and William Kelloway had financial arrangements, these are reported on the Land Records of Lot # 24, Concession # 11, East Zorra Township, Oxford County.

Thomas Rowe, b 1824, in later years bought over 200 acres of land on Lots # 23 and Lot # 24. Thomas and Elizabeth Jane (Kelloway) Rowe had four children listed on the Family Page.

Elizabeth Jane (Kelloway) Rowe, died January 21 1862, she was buried in the Trinity Anglican Cemetery, two miles north of Hickson, on # 59 Highway.

Thomas Rowe, b 1824, in 1863 he married Margaret McKenzie, b December 12 1829, in East Zorra Township, Oxford County. They had two listed on Family Page. Three month old Catherine Maude was buried in Trinity Anglican Cemetery beside her stepmother, Elizabeth Jane (Kelloway) Rowe.

Thomas Rowe, b 1824, died September 19 1889, his second wife, Margaret (McKenzie) Rowe, b 1829, died September 24 1918. They were both buried in the Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock, Ontario.

Thomas Rowe, born April 22 1784 at or near Coryton, Devonshire. About 1812, near Tavistock, Devonshire, he married Mary Cotton, b June 8 1790, likely near Tavistock, Devonshire, England. It is said after their marriage they moved to and lived near Middlemoor, which is near Whitchurch, Devonshire, England. Mary and Thomas row's 11 children were all baptized in the Whitchurch Anglican Parish church.

In 1855, when Thomas Rowe was 70 years old, he and his wife Mary along with six of their children, emigrated to Canada, where three of their children were now residents, Susan, John and Jane came in 1842, (Jane died in 1844), son Thomas came to Canada in 1848. In an article now recorded in the Rowe Family archives, from the Woodstock Sentinel Review, about the Rowe Reunion held in 1912, at the home of Mr J C Rowe, (Spruce Lawn), in honoring their early ancestors, Mary and Thomas Rowe, it states, for their first year in Canada they lived an a farm one mile south of Woodstock, then they moved north and two miles East of Hickson and lived on the farm known as Lot # 20, Concession # 14, East Zorra Township, County of Oxford. This article states they both died while on Lot # 20, Thomas, February 23 1868, Mary January 22 1870. They were both buried in the Huntingford Anglican Cemetery, at Huntingford, five miles north of Woodstock, Ontario. (It is also reported, they both died on their son, Thomas's farm one mile north of Hickson on # 59 Highway, known as Lot # 23, Concession # 12, East Zorra Township, County of Oxford.)...

From early records of the Woodstock and Innerkip areas, the following is a small portion of history, on my Great Great Grand Parents, Olive (Burtch) and Stratton Rowell. Olive (Burtch) Rowell, born in 1799, likely in New York State, about 1819 she married Stratton Rowell, born in 1791. The Rowell family emigrated from England to the USA, later they came to Canada as United Empire Loyalists. In June 1822, Olive & Stratton Rowell received a 'Crown Deed' on 100 acres of land near Innerkip, being Lot #12, Concession #16, Zorra Township, Oxford County. Olive and Stratton Rowell had eleven children.
