My brother started researching the family tree thirty years ago and then my husband and I started going with him to State Libraries, Probate Courts, Historic Societies, and the LDS.
Also talked to a lot of people connected with the familes we were searching from New York to Canada. When we were younger there was always a Chase/Buzzell family reunion. There we met a lot of people that are now deceased. My husbands family now hold Walbridge Family reunions.
