I began this study of the Lunsford name because while growing up here in Midland, Texas there were no other Lunsford's and it was a very uncommon name.
My Dad, Dutch, had come to Midland during WWII and married my Mom Margie. He only returned to his home in Missouri a few times. Instead, he teased us kids about being Native Born, but he made the choice to become a Texan! But he was always proud of his Missouri roots and his family.
My Mother's family came here from East Texas and Georgia and Tennessee; her Dad was born in Kansas... he may be Cherokee...but he was for sure born without any fingers on his left hand. Also, we are working on a story passed to us by Mom about he killed a man who kidnapped her and Clinton (her brother). We know it happened Oct 6, 1932 and not quite the romantic way we heard. More on that to those who are interested.

Thank you to everyone who posted and let me use their research. here is some more of mine!
I worked with my Aunt Helen on the records and have made changes and updates particularly on the McBride side which is my Grandmother's Family. I updated McBride connections 11-20-07 from Genealogy Library in Midland Texas. Updated:2-25-2008; found quite a few Lunsford connections on World Tree that matched. Check out Mahala Stith connection. Updates on the Kennedy Family made 6-6-2009 and others made 6-9-09 for Jay Family (Virginia Lunsford's kids)
