2. John McBain LYONS was born on 11 Feb 1856 in Cadiz, Harrison Co., Ohio. He died on 3 Mar 1942 in Emporia, Lyon Co., Kansas. Little is known of the early life of John McBain Lyons. Before he was nine months old his mother had disappeared from the family history, and his father had remarried. The 1860 Iowa County, Iowa census shows that David and his new wife Sarah lived next door to the family of John P. and Cynthia Moore, while the 5 year old John was still living in Harrison County, Ohio, with the family of John and Henrietta Gardner McBride. Henrietta, then age 34, was the sister of David's first wife, Rachel. By age 15, John McBain Lyons was no longer with that family, but neither was he living with his father. Nothing more is known of him until the time of his marriage.

He was married to Mary Jane TABLER (daughter of James William TABLER and Sarah E. HEART) on 23 Feb 1882 in Osceola, Clark Co., Iowa. Mary Jane TABLER was born on 25 Sep 1861 in Osceola, Clark Co., Iowa. She died on 14 Apr 1942 in Emporia, Lyon Co., Kansas. John McBain LYONS and Mary Jane TABLER had the following children:
