9. James P. Lytle was born in 1811. He appeared on the census in 1860 in Henderson County, NC. Bowmans Bluff, House #41: Lytle, James 39; Margaret 37; John 20; Elizabeth 18; Thomas 16; Amanda 12; Harriet 10; Columbus 6; George 5; Elizabeth Clayton 70 and William Bedwell 22. He died in Henderson County, NC. The Buncombe County North Carolina Census, 1850 list the following: Lytle, J.P. 38; Margaret 35; Millington 10; Elizabeth A. 9; Thomas L. 6; Amanda S. 3; Harriet E. 4/12.

He was married to Margaret Clayton in 1839 in Buncombe County, NC. Margaret Clayton was born in 1813. She died in Arkansas. James P. Lytle and Margaret Clayton had the following children:
