Mrs. Lytle,
I received your letter yesterday asking me in regards to Bob's death. He left Bryson the 12th. and started home. He was killed that night on Soco at Frclilly. Robert supposed to have been killed for his money while asleep either lying before the fire or sitting dozing. He wasn't found until the 14th. late in the evening, held an inquest Sunday morning, was buried at the Shoal Creek Camp Ground the 16th. Finnie wasn't there nor the children. They are living in Fines Creek. Bob had been at work at Nolands Creek in Swain since the 12th. of January. Left the camp with about $150.00. I don't think he was in fault, he was shot in back of the head with his own pistol, it is thought while asleep. The doctor says when found, he was buried about 40 yards from the house wrapped in a quilt. There were three murderers, they have two in jail at Webster, one escaped. If any of you want to go to his burial place, go to S.B. Farmers Qualla Town in Jackson 3 1/2 miles from Whittier.
