3. JOHN W.3 CHISHOLM (DUNCAN "BIG"2, ALEX1) was born 1866 in Glassburn, Nova Scotia, and died 1935 in Heatherton, Nova Scotia. He married (1) MARY "MINNIE" CHISHOLM in Heatherton. She was born 1878 in Black River, Nova Scotia, and died 1972 in Glassburn, Nova Scotia. He married (2) CATHERINE MACDONALD. She was born 1871 in Glassburn, Nova Scotia, and died 05 Oct 1893 in Heatherton, Nova Scotia.

OHN W. CHISHOLM:
His first wife, Catherine MacDonald, died at age 22 while giving birth to their child. Sadly, the baby also died. He went on to marry Mary "Minnie" Chisholm and have 9 healthy children.

ARY "MINNIE" CHISHOLM:
Minnie was the Glassburn, Nova Scotia Postmistress. The post office was located in a spare room of her home. She was first cousin of Msgr. Finlay Chisholm and Rev. Donald Chisholm. Finlay Chisholm was a parish priest in Antigonish while his brother Donald was a parish priest in Cape Breton.

  Notes for CASSIE CHISHOLM:
Married her husband at the age of 75. Worked as a secretary for the Army in Washington D.C. during World War II.

  iii.   FLORENCE CHISHOLM, b. 1903, Glassburn, Nova Scotia; d. 17 Oct 1993, Antigonish, Nova Scotia; m. GOTTFRIED; d. 1945, Germany.
  Notes for FLORENCE CHISHOLM:
Taught school in Antigonish before moving to the states to work as a domestic for a rich New York family with her sister Jennie. Her husband, a man by the name of Gottfried, was killed in an accident in Germany in 1945.

  v.   JENNIE CHISHOLM, b. 1908, Glassburn, Nova Scotia; d. 1988, West Palm Beach, Florida.
  Notes for JENNIE CHISHOLM:
Taught school before going to the states and working as a domestic in New York. Was afraid of a "young lout" in her class-a young man by the name of Richard Long.

  vi.   BERNARD CHISHOLM, b. 1913, Glassburn, Nova Scotia; d. 1970, Heatherton, Nova Scotia; m. MARY QUIRK.
  Notes for BERNARD CHISHOLM:
Worked the docks in Halifax for several years before returning to Heatherton. Married Mary Quirk and had 5 children.

  ix.   COLIN CHISHOLM, b. 1904, Glassburn, Nova Scotia; d. 1973, Heatherton, Nova Scotia.
  Notes for COLIN CHISHOLM:
Worked as a lineman in the states in the early 1920's. Was a Corporal in the Army during WWII. Rode a motorcycle. Returned to Glassburn in 1944 to take over the family farm.
