Notes for S
ARAH ELZEY BALLARD:
The death certificate for Sarah Ballard states that she was to be buried at the Western Cemetary. A visit by Sharon Betch to that cemetery showed that she is not buried there, at least not in the plot owned by Alexander Bosman, her son.

The obituary for Sarah found in the Baltimore papers refers to her as the late wife of Alexander Bosman, showing that Alexander did predecease her, but his exact date of death remains unknown.

Cause of death: Pulmunary Consuption, secondary - exhaustion. Feburary 1881 Burial at Western Cemetary.

Notes for A
LEXANDER BOZMAN:
The 1860 census has a listing in the 17th ward of South Baltimore for a William bosman. The noteworthy item in this listing is a Sarah Bosman. There is no Alexander in this lisiting. It would appear that Alexander died prior to 1860.

There are two listings in the Baltimore Directory for 1859:
Bosman, Alex      carpenter            157 S. Fremont
Bosman, Alex                  56 Henrietta Street

The first is obviously Sarah's son. The question is whether or not the second is Sarah's husband. To complicate things further there are still two listings in the 1860 directory:
Bosman, Alex      carpenter            29 Beven
Bosman, Rev. Alexander            142 E. Monument Street

Due to the Civil War, there are no directories for 1861 and 1862 and a business only directory for 1863.

The 1860 census shows conclusively that the Rev. Alexander Bosman is no relaiton to this family. He was 24 years old and born in Pensylvania.

Alexander is a mystery man. Beyond a record of his birth and baptism and marriage, no records can be found.
