next to his wife and two children i n the Hatfield cemetery which surrounds
the parish church of Hatfield.

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Lee of Stainforth in the couty
of York farm er made and published this fourteenth day of February in the year
of our Lord one thousand ei ght hundred and sixteen in as much following that
is to say I give and bequeath unto my dea r wife Elizabeth all and singular my
monies securities for money and household goods furnitur e plate linen china
goods chattels rights credits personal estate and effects whatsoever an d wheresoevery
and of what nature or kind soever. To hold the same unto my said wife her exe
cutors and administrators absolutely subject nevertheless so and charged and
chargeable wit h the payment thereout of all and singular my just debts my funeral
expenses and the costs o f anything this my will and I nominate and appoint my
said wife sole executrix of this my wil l and revoke and make said all former
and other wills by me heretofore made in witness whereo f I have herunto set
my hand and seal the day and year first above written by Wm. Lee

did not learn how to read or write, even though her father was a schoolma ster
of Cudworth. She may have married below her station and this is the reason why
a marriag e license was purchased. She later lived on a farm with her husband
in the town of Stainfort h within the parish of Hatfield. She is buried on the
church grounds of the parish with he r husband and two of her children. Children

administrators and assigns al l my personal estate whatsoever and of what nature
or kind soever not hereinafter specifcall y disposed of upon trust that the
said Trustee or Trustees for the time being do and shall wi th all convenient
speed after my decease sell dispose of, and I convert into money so much th ereof
so shall be in its nature saleable and collect, get in and receive the residue
thereo f and with and out of the said moneys pay satisfy and discharge all my
just debts funeral an d Testamentary expenses and legacies and also the legacies
or other charges which I may ----- - by my Codicil to this my Will and in case
I shall have any child or children living at th e time of my death or born within
a proper time after I direct that the said trustee or trust ees for the time
being shall lay out and in -----the residue of the said moneys after answeri
ng the purposes aforesaid in his or their name or names at interest or real securities
in Eng land and from time to time after vary and transfer the the ---- in before
mentioned trust sh all think fit And I direct that every such calling in alteration
variation or transfer shal l during the life of my said Wife be made with her
consent in writing and after her secease b e made at the discretion and of the
proper authority of the said trustee or trustees for th e time being. And upon
further trust that my said trustee or trustees for the time being d o pay or
cause to be paid the interest and annual produce of such moneys and securities
fo r money by even and equal half yearly payments unto my said Wife Elizabeth
Lee if she be livi ng at the time of my decease and so long as she remain my
widow and until my youngest Child s hall come of the age of twenty one years
for and towards the maintenance, education and suppo rt of all and every of my
said Children and in case my said Wife shall not be living at the t ime of my
decease or shall die before my youngest child shall attain the age of twenty
one ye ars or so soon as she shall remarry. I direct that my said trustee or
trustees for the tim e being shall lay out and expend such interest and annual
produce as aforesaid in the mainten ance education and support of all my said
Children according to the best of his knowledge unt il the youngest child shall
attain the age of twenty one years. And I direct that my truste e or trustees
for the time being shall upon my youngest child attaining the age of twenty on
e years call the aforesaid moneys and divide the same if more than one equally
amongst all m y said children in equal shares and proportions share and share
alike and if only one then th e whole thereof to such only child Provided always
and I declare that the said trust moneys i nterest and produce thereof shall
be vested in such of my children respectively as shall b e a son and sons as
and when he and they shall attain his or their age or respective ages o f twenty
one years and in such of the same children respectively as shall be a daughter
or da ughters when and as she and they respectively shall attain her or their
age or respective age s of twenty one years or day or respective days of marriage
and to be paid as soon as conveni ently may be after the youngest child shall
have attained his or her age of twenty one year s And in case any one or more
of my said sons or daughters who shall depart this life unde r the age of twenty
one years shall leave any lawful issue living at his or her death as afor esaid
then I direct that the original share and also the derivative share or shares
of my sai d son or sons daughter or daughters -----my and also the accumulations
if any shall be and re main in trust for such issue of my said son or sons so
dying or daughter or daughters so dyin g as aforesaid who shall be living at
the death or respective deaths of his her or their pare nt or respective parents
and in such parts shares and proportions that such my Grandchildre n may take
per stirpes and not per capita and so as the issue of such respective parent
ma y take as tenants between themselves but in case I shall have no Child or
Children living a t the time of my death or born until a proper time after my
decease which shall live to attai n the age of twenty one years then and in that
case I give and bequeath the following legacie s and First I give and bequeath
unto my said Wife the sum of Twenty pound to be paid to her b y my Executor hereinafter
named within thirty days after my decease in lieu of all the befor e mentioned
provisions I also give and bequeath unto my said wife all the Furniture and plat
e which was hers at the time of my marriage with her and also half of the linen
of every kin d which shall be found in my possession or houses at the time of
my death also a dozen new si lver tea spoons marked with my initials. And I
will and direct that my said wife shall be a llowed to occupy my Dwellinghouse
for the term of six months after my decease without payin g --- after ---- the
same. I give and bequeath unto my Brother John Lee my Silver Pin an d I give
and bequeath unto my Brother William Lee all my Body linen and wearing apparel.
I g ive and bequeath unto my Brother James Lee the Bed and bedding which I shall
last use befor e my death. I also give and bequeath unto my said Brother James
Lee the sum of Ten pounds i n addition to the last legacy. I give and bequeath
unto my Brother Jonathan Lee my two old s ilver table spoons not marked with
my initials and my four silver salt spoons. I also give a nd bequeath unto my
said Brother Jonathan Lee the sum of five pounds in addition to the las t legacy.
I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Parkin my writing Desk with Chest of
drawe rs underneath also half a dozen of my old silver tea spoons and the sugar
tongs which were m y Mother's. I give and bequeath unto my sister Ann Howard
two silver table spoons marked wit h my initials. I give and bequeath unto my
sister Elizabeth Blanchard two silver table spoon s marked with my initials
I give and bequeath unto my sister Hannah Marsden the old silver t ea spoons
and the old sugar tongs. I give and bequeth unto my nephew Jospeh Howard my
silve r Watch and also the sum of Ten pounds and direct that the same may be
invested in the name o f my said trustee or trustees in the Savings Bank and
be paid together with the accumulation s to the said Joseph Howard on his attaining
the age of twenty one years And I do hereby bequ eath the residue of the money
to arise from the sale of my property not lastly herein befor e specifically
bequeathed unto the said William Lee, James Lee, and Jonathan Lee, and Mary Pa
rkin, Ann Howard, Elizabeth Blanchard and Hannah Marsden in equal shares and
proportions shar e and share alike, except it is my will that if any of the persons
or person to whom I have l eft any legacy or legacies shall depart this life
leaving issue that such issue take the leg acy or legacies of his her or their
present to be divided equally amongst then share and shar e alike. And I will
and direct that the legacies legally hereinbefore bequeathed to my sai d Wife
Hannah Lee, to John Lee, William Lee, James Lee, Jonathan Lee, Mary Parkin, Ann
Howard , Elziabeth Blanchard, Hannah Marsden and Jose;h Howard shall be null
and void in case I shal l leave any issue which shall live to attain the age
of twenty-one years and in that even t I hereby revoke the same, but if I shall
die without leaving issue as as aforesaid then I w ill and direct that the same
legacies shall remain as part of my Will and be put in full forc e. And I hereby
nominate, constitute and appoint my said brother John Lee sole Executor of t
his my Will. In Witness whereof , I the said Richard Lee the Testator leave
to this my las t Will and Testament contained in this and the three preceeding
sheets of paper set my name a nd seal (to wit) my hand to and at the bottom of
each of the said three sheets and my hand an d seal to this last sheet and my
seal at the top of the said sheets where all the said sheet s are fixed together
this tenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hu ndred
