Mrs. JoAnn Tucker Tate, 69, of 828 Tate St. in Mount Airy, widow of the late William Clinton Tate, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Tate was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Wilkes County to the late Luther Herman Tucker and Annie Inman Tucker Jenkins. She was a loving wife and mother, and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Ronald Cates II of King and Pam Burrow of Pinnacle; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary Ann Tate of Mount Airy; five grandchildren and spouses, Ronald Cates of King, Matthew Burrow of Pinnacle, Melissa Burrow of King, Brandy and Kevin O’Neal of Cana, Va. and April and Chad O’Neal of Mount Airy; three greatgrandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Tommy Hudson and Katherine and Bobby Slate, all of Mount Airy, Gladys and Charlie McCormick of East Bend and Arlene and Arthur Heller of Ararat, Va.; and one brother and sisterin-law, the Rev. Bill and Pat Tucker of Mount Airy. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by one sister, Cora Lee Edwards. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with services conducted by the Rev. Tom Delph and the Rev. Steve Delph and with burial to follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moody Funeral in Mount Airy.

MOUNT AIRY - Mr. William Clinton Tate, 75, of 828 Tate Street, Mount
Airy, husband of JoAnn Tucker Tate, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Tate was
born in Surry County on April 8, 1928, to the late William Caleb and Pearl
Dean Tate. He was a self-employed appliance repairman and a member of White
Plains Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Tucker
Tate of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Ronald Cates of
King and Pam Burrow of Pinnacle; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary
Ann Tate of Mount Airy; five grandchildren and spouses, Ronald Cates II and
Melissa Burrow, both of King, Matthew Burrow of Pinnacle, Brandy and Kevin O
'Neal of Cana, Va., and April and Chad O'Neal of Mount Airy; three great
grandchildren; and an adopted sister, Elsie Overby of Mount Airy. The
funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Moody
Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev.
Tom Delph and the Rev. Steve Delph, with burial in the White Plains Baptist
Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at
Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, and at other times at the home of Charles
and Mary Ann Tate, 827 Tate Street, Mount Airy.
