Edith Doub Smith, 98, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born May 1, 1907, to Aldine and Margaret Lineback Doub. On Nov. 26, 1925, she married Dan A. Smith, who preceded her in death in March 1986. Mrs. Smith was an active member of Beck's Baptist Church, serving in many of the church's ministries, including more than 50 years teaching in Sunday school. She was employed for a number of years at both R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Sears, having retired from Sears in 1967. Surviving are a son, Dan A. Smith Jr., and wife, Lib, of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren, Dana Yelverton and husband, David, of High Point and Dr. Michael Smith and wife, Diana, of Valrico, Fla. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Matthew Smith, Mitchell and Wyatt Yelverton and Morgan Smith; and a special niece, Linda Ellerbe and husband, Bob. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am. Saturday, May 21, at Vogler's Reynolda Chapel, with Dr. Karl Minor and Dr. Ray Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Vogler's Reynolda Road. Memorials may be made to Beck's Baptist Church, 5505 Becks Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.

TOBACCOVILLE - Mr. Mack Osborne Moore, 84, died at Village Care of King Monday evening, Nov. 12, 2001, following a lengthy period of declining health. A native of Forsyth County, he was born Dec. 30, 1916, to Robert Aldine and Nancy Phandora Vest Moore. He was a lifelong member of Jefferson Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon as well as held other offices in the church as long as his health permitted. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 117th Infantry Battalion/30th Infantry Division. Mr. Moore fought in the European Theater and was wounded in France during the Invasion of Normandy (D-Day). He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Service Star. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mack Donald Moore in 1972; a sister, Phandora M. Long; and nine brothers, Carl, Gray, Russ, Kenneth, R.A., Herbert, Augustus, William and Gene Moore. Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Bernice Kreeger Moore; four daughters, Krista (Wayne) Lineback of Pfafftown, Becky (Wayne) Dodson of Rural Hall, Jane M. Johnson of Pilot Mountain and Amy M. Moore of Tobaccoville; a son, Dean Moore of King; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Louise Hendrix of Tobaccoville; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at Jefferson Church of Christ at 11 a.m. Thursday (November 15, 2001), with Steve Cook, Minister, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #290 of King. The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Jefferson Church of Christ. TOBACCOVILLE - Mrs. Bernice Kreeger Moore, 80, died at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on Monday morning, April 14, 2003, following a period of declining health. A native of Forsyth County, she was born March 15, 1923, to the late Fred Lee and Maggie Speas Kreeger. She was a lifelong member of Jefferson Church of Christ, where she taught the four-year-old Sunday-school class for more than 30 years. She always made a keepsake for each of Sunday-school children. Bernice was an avid quilter and baker and was known throughout the community for her cookies and chicken pies. She was a member of the Old Richmond Home Extension Club and was retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system as a cafeteria manager. In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mack Moore, on Nov. 12, 2001 and a son, Mack Donald Moore, in 1972. Surviving are four daughters, Krista (Wayne) Lineback of Pfafftown, Becky (Wayne) Dodson of Rural Hall, Jane M. Johnson of Pinnacle and Amy M. Moore of Tobaccoville; a son, Fred A. "Dean" Moore of King; a "special daughter", Marlene Scott of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren, Chad (Adrianne) Lineback, Todd (Donna) Lineback, Alison Lineback, Dustin Moore and Lindsay Moore; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mozelle (John) Hendrix of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Juanita (Charlie) Puckett of Stuart; a brother, Fred "Buzry" Kreeger Jr. and wife Ruth of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Church of Christ, where she was also a member of the Golden Agers. Inez, being a lover of music, served as a church pianist and choir member for many years. She also enjoyed sharing her music with residents in the area nursing homes. Inez will be long remembered for the many birthday and anniversary phone calls she made to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Launie Long, in 1997; a sister, Clara Slate; a brother, Arnold Gray Moore; a half-sister, Ruby Burrow; two half brothers, Trubert and Edward Shelton; and a brother-in-law, Dewey Long. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Johnny Moore, of Rural Hall; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Bettie Long of King and Barry and Linda Long of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren, Annette L. He was involved in organizing the King Volunteer Fire Dept and was a charter member of the Dept. He spent many hours pursuing his hobby in woodworking and was a talented clock builder. Surviving are his wife Inez Moore Long of the home, a daughter, Doris L. Moore and husband Johnny of Rural Hall, two sons, Billy C. Long and wife, Bettie of King, and Barry K. Long and wife, Linda of Salt Lake City, UT; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dewey Long of King and Burge Long of Yadkinville, NC. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 13, 1997 at 3 p.m. at Poplar Springs Church of Christ. Ralph Sproles, Don Wallace and Chuck Bower, Ministers, will officiate.
