that list a Briant (Bryant) married to Nancy Tolleson, daughter of John
Tolleson, file 2033. I believe this may have been the father of William
Tolleson Briant (Bryant). William Tolleson Briant was also known as "Gray
Buck". William T. Bryant, 84, shows up in the 1880 Spartanburg, S. C. Census
with wife Nelley, age 60. Old age is listed as the cause of their infirmity.
The 1870 SC, S. C. Census list Wm. Bryant, age 73, Nelley, 52, Thomas, age 12.
The 1860 Spartanburg, South Carolina Census lists William Briant, 64, as head
of household with wife Lucinda, 60, and children Mary Ann, 24, Missouri J., 22,
Altamina, 21, Phannana, 19, Hannah, 17, and William A., 13. [Danny A. McBee,
October 26, 2000]. He was married to Lucinda (Lucy) Kirby on 2 Aug 1826.

was the sister of Terry Kirby. Children were:

1997, from Glenna Kinard that Elizabeth Briant's middle name was Bernice. I

Elizabeth Briant and husband Miles Crocker were in Union County, Mississippi
in 1850. I, Danny A. McBee, am not sure exactly why they relocated out to Mississippi.
I only assume free land or family had already relocated there. [Danny A. McBee,

Alfred Tolleson (Briant) Bryant(1)
was born on 26 Dec 1829 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He died on 8
Aug 1896 in Calhoun County, Mississippi. He was buried in Paris, Calhoun County,
Mississippi. I, Danny A. McBee, received a letter today, October 3, 1997, from
Glenna Kinard that suggests a
date of death for Alfred Tolleson Briant as August 26, 1896, in Calhoun County,
Mississippi. [Danny A. McBee].
Glenna Kinard sent me, Danny A. McBee, the following information on October 4,
1997: "Two years into Reconstruction, a number of Bryant, Kirby, Cannon,
Harbinson, Mousler, Schitzler, Berry, etc., families left Spartanburg for the
west on April 15, 1867. The Bryants and Kirbys stopped for a few months on a
farm near Clarksville, Tennessee while the other families went straight through
to Missouri. After a few months in Tennessee, the Bryants and Kirbys moved on
to Missouri and settled on farms near Benton." Members of the family then
"married and settled in Benton, Blodgett, Morley, Missouri, and Durant,
Oklahoma. [Danny A. McBee].
