McBee, the following information on my Tolleson family by e-mail, March 7, 1998:
Notes: It is said that Erasmus Tolleson and a cousin came to America in 1686:
first to the New England Coast and then down the coast to what is now Charleston,
S. C. He was a trader and banker and well-fixed financially, but the War of
1812 broke the family (descendants). The family is of Danish ancestry and originally
spelled the name Tollefson. [Danny A. McBee, March 7, 1998).
