32. William McBee
(1) was born between 1785 and 1789 in Spartanburg
County, South Carolina.(7) He died after
1850 in Possibly Walker County, Georgia (last listed in 1850 Walker Co., Ga.
Census).. He was a Farmer. P. 2 March 19, 1821, William McBee (S.C.) to Thomas
Brown (Spartanburgh); for
$100 sold 125 acres on Bullock's fork; grant to Malichi Jones; includes 25
acres sold by Warner Sherbut (or Shurbutt) to John Prewett. See two deeds
from Warner Sherbute to John Prewett. Witness James Brown and Jesse Hutchins.
Signed William McBee.
April 19, 1826. Jacob Stotts to George Weaver; power of attorney to sell 150
acres; grant to Henry Walker; border: Thos Wells; and power of attorney to
collect judgment in sheriff's hands against estate of John Tolleson deceased.
Witness Absalom McBee and William McBee. Signed Jacob Stott's mark. Wit.
oath September 4, 1826 Absalom McBee to Jas Ed Henry. Rec. September 4, 1826.
Millie Adelaide Briant (Bryant) McBee's father's name was William Tolleson
Briant. There could be a connection here. This should be looked into further
by going to Spartanburg, South Carolina and looking through the records
closer. (Danny A. McBee).
There is a great possibility that William could have been the father of Thomas
B.
McBee. Thomas B. McBee named his first son, born 1843, William. William died
in the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia in 1863 at the young age of 20. He was
a corporal. There are two people named William McAbee listed in the Spartanburg
County, Spartanburg,
South Carolina 1820 census with male children under the age of 10 which fits
the time of Thomas McBee's birth (1814/1818). Both of these William McAbees
are listed on page 240 of that Census. (Danny Albert McBee, 4131 Grissom
Street, Gastonia, North Carolina, 28056 (704) 865-6715 or (803) 238-9145).
There is a possibility that this William McBee might be the son of Isham McBee.
[Danny A. McBee].
The Seventh U. S. 1850 Walker Co., Ga., Taylor Ridge Valley Census, page no.
411, list dwelling number 948 and family 948 as: William McBee, 65, male,
white, farmer, birth South Carolina, wife Anna McBee, 64, born S. C., Elijah
T. Reid, 18, (believed to be a grandchild), farmer, born in S. C., Matthew
McBee, 35, farmer, born in S. C., Mary McBee, 25, (daughter-in-law), born in
Georgia, granddaughter Cynthia P. McBee, 5, born in Texas, and grandson James
T. McBee, 1, born in Tennessee (shows a migratory pattern of the McBee
family). (Danny A. McBee).
The 4th U. S. Census, 1820, Spartanburg Dist., S. C., page 246, house no. 634,
list
William McAbee & T. Reid, Jr. as head of household (T. Reid, Jr. believed
to
have been a son-in-law).

Comment: The members of the family have not been identified, but this William
(born c. 1785) is believed to be the son of Matthew McBee (born before 1755).
This William was living fairly close to other known members of Matthew's
family. Also, the age given is correct to match with the information given in
the 7th U. S. Walker Co., Georgia Census listed above. Also, the census
information list William and T. Reid, Jr. as being joint heads of this family.
It is speculated that T. Reid, Jr. is a son-in-law of William living in his
house. Living in the houses directly on either side of these two are several
Reid's: William Reid, Jr., Thomas Reid, A. & F. Reid, Jr., and James Reid.
It is believed that the Thomas Reid is the father of Thomas Reid, Jr. Also
the Reid connection ties in with the name Elijah T. Reid listed in the 1850
Walker Co., Georgia Census living in the household of William McBee. (Danny
A. McBee).
I, Danny A. McBee, now believe that the son that is listed as 20/30 years old
is Thomas B. McBee (or could it be Thomas R. McBee). This Thomas B. McBee
could stand for Thomas Brown to whom William sold his land too. Thomas
Brown could have been married to a McBee. This is pure speculation on my,
Danny A. McBee, part. (Danny A. McBee, September 12, 1998).
Possibility that William was selling his land to move to Georgia?
There is a William McAbee who served in the War of 1812. He served in Captain
Loveless Gosque's Co. of Infantry, 5th (Keith's) Regiment of South Carolina
Militia. He was also on the Company muster roll at Fort Winyaw. His terms of
service
given as 3 months and 22 days. Starts September 1, 1812 and is completed on
December 22, 1812. [Danny A. McBee, January 11, 2000].
33. Mrs. (Anna) William McBee(1)
was born about 1786. She died between 1870 and 1880 in Near Ringgold County,
Georgia. I, Danny A. McBee, think that there is a possibility that Anna may
have been a
Reid. There is an Elijah T. Reid, 18, living in the household of William and
Anna McBee in the 1850 Walker County, Georgia Census. Annie McBee, age 84,
born in South Carolina, shows up in the 1870 Whitfield County, Georgia living
in the household of Elias Smith, born South Carolina, 1813. Elias is 37 years
old in the 1850 Walker County Census and is married to Rachel, 21. They have
children Henry C., 5, Hannah, 3, and William A. 1. Also living in Whitfield
County, Georgia was Silas D. McBee, age 28, born inTennessee (page 167, Whitfield
Co., Georgia, 1870 Census). Wm. McBee to Wm. Reid. Rec. Dec. 2, 1817. Land
sale from Matthew McBee to Anna McBee.

William McBee(1) was born about 1809
in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. William McBee, age 61, shows up in the
1870 Spartanburg County, South Carolina
Census with wife Sarah, age 60. Also living in this household is Elizabeth
Atkin, 40, and Frances Goins, 13, and Sarah Atkins, age 3. William McBee, age
20, shows up as a farm laborer, living in the household of Martin Goins, age
36, in the 1870 Spartanburg, Campobella Township, South Carolina Census. I,
Danny A. McBee, believe this William to be the son of William and Sarah (Goin)
McBee. [Danny A. McBee]
William McAbee, age 30, born circa 1820, is listed in the 1850 Spartanburg, South
Carolina Census as head of household. William's wife is listed as Cassandra,
age 31.
Children are listed as Relton, 11, male, Franklin (Frank), 6, male, Willis, 3,
male,
William, male, 1. This William McAbee is living beside William and Lucinda Kirby
Bryant (Briant). I believe this to be the son of William and Anna McBee and
brother
of Thomas B. McBee who married Millie Adelaide Briant, daughter of William and
Lucinda Briant. According to the History of Spartanburg County, Frank and Willis
McBee were wounded at Goldsboro, North Carolina during the Civil War. [Danny
A. McBee, April 1, 1998].
ii.
Unknown McBee(1) was born about 1810.
This daughter is listed in the 4th Census, 1830, Spartanburg Dist., S. C., with
Wm McAbee and T. Reid Jr. listed jointly as head of household. She is listed
as being between 15/20.
[Danny A. McBee, January 11, 2000].

Unknown McBee(1) was born about
1811.
iv.
Unknown McBee(1) was born about 1812.

Thomas B. McBee.
vi.
Matthew McBee(1) was born about 1816.
He died. He was a Farmer. In a search of the North Carolina records on USGenWeb
on July 1, 1999, I, Danny A.
McBee, found the record of burial for Mathew McBee, age 67y4m4d, died June 26,
1859 [which is consistant with the summer of 1859 which is what I previously
had in my records], buried in the Providence United Methodist Cemetery, McDowell
County, North Carolina. The location of this cemetery is West on I-40, after
you have passed US 221 Exit. Will be 2nd exit west, south on Sugar Hill Road.
I am now beginning to know that this Matthew McBee is actually Matthew McBee,
Jr. brother of this William McBee, and son of Matthew McBee born in 1761. Sounds
a little confusing but sheds some light on the actual age of Matthew McBee.
I had him being born in 1816 which was not correct. He was actually born February
22, 1792. His wife Mary is also buried in the Providence United Methodist Cemetery.
She died June 30, 1891 and was born March 19, 1818. She was 73y3m11d old.
I, Danny A. McBee, am now of the belief that Matthew was married twice. First
to Darcus Lee and second to Mary Hawkins. This would be consistant with the
age of Matthew McBee married to Darcus Lee. He was born 1786-1790 in Spartanburg,
South Carolina. Sounds a bit confusing and should be explored more when I
have the time. [Danny A. McBee, July 2, 1999].
I, Danny A. McBee, went to the cemetery in Marion and viewed the graves of Mary
and Matthew McBee at the Providence United Methodist Church off Sugar Hill Road
in Marion, North Carolina on July 4, 1999. [Danny A. McBee, July 26, 1999].
I, Danny A. McBee, found more information that is confusing to me about Matthew
McBee. I had a death date of Matthew McBee as June 26, 1859. However, I find
a Matthew McBee McDaniel enlisting in the Civil War in Rutherford County, North
Carolina on February 29, 1864. I don't understand who this Matthew McBee McDaniel
could possibly be. Matthew and Mary apparently had two children named Cynthia
and James T. McBee as they are listed in the 1850 Walker County, Georgia Census
with him and his father William McBee. [Danny A. McBee, March 14, 2000].
My birthdate of Matthew McBee married to Mary comes from the 1850 Walker County,
Georgia Census where Matthew and Mary are living with William McBee and wife
Anna. Matthew is 35 years old and Mary is 25 years old. This would have made
Matthew being born in 1815 and Mary in 1925. [Danny A. McBee, November 2, 2000].
