Richard C. Stark was born May 16, 1814 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, and died January 16, 1867. He married Sarah Phoebe Harmon on May 02, 1838 in Portland, Maine, daughter of Thomas Harmon and Mary (nee Wiley).

The Stark family Bible was the source for the children of Richard and Phebe Stark.

After Barrack's birth in 1842 and before the birth of Charles R. in 1844, the Starks moved from Portland, Maine to Brownfield, Maine and after Mary Elta's birth in 1854 and before 1860, they moved to Savannah, Georgia, where they are recorded in the 1860 Federal Census.

1860 Federal Census: Shows Richard C. Stark was born in Liverpool, England and the rest of the family were born in Maine. Charles H. is not listed therefore it is assumed that he either remained in Maine when the family moved south or else he had died.

Richard's occupation is shown as "Stevedore" with an estate of $400 ((1860 dollars) They lived on Arnold Street in Savannah.

Listed in the 1860 Census index with the Stark family were: Robert Mettall, 46 M, Carpenter from Derbyshire, England and Francis Pouis, 35 M, Mariner, from Spain.

Richard C. Stark died on January 16, 1867 at 52 years and 8 months of age. He is buried in Laurel Grove Cemetary, Section 9, Savannah, Georgia.

The 1870 Federal Census for Savannah on page 64 (second schedule) includes Phebe and her children. It shows Phebe (spelled Phibi) keeping house; Mary Elta (spelled Maielta) assisting in keeping house (with no mention of her name as Trumps); Barak (spelled Barik) as a carpenter and Charles as a laorer.
