Leonidas (Lee J.) Rountree (son of Henry (Tom) Clay Rountree) was born 15 Jul 1869 in Texas, and died May 1923 in Austin, TX. He married Francis Unknown.

His given name was Ira Leon Roundtree.

He helped his mother, Mary Kate Roundtree McPherson with the publication of the "Star Vindicator" newspaper after the death of his step-father, Granville McPherson. He became a widely known newspaper man. He published newspapers at Georgetown, TX, and later at Bryan. He was elected state representative for the Bryan district in the Texas Legislature. In May, 1923, he died on the floor of the House of Representatives at Austin and was buried at Bryan on May 4, 1923. His widow took over both his newspaper, the Bryan Eagle and his seat in the legislature. She was re-elected to his seat becoming the first woman to be elected to office in Brazos County.
