Rev. Israel Folsom came to Indian Territory on the Trail of Tears. He was a Presbyterian preacher. Israel and a brother went away to school in Tennessee. They were a great help to the missionaries in translating the scriptures, for religion was a great part of their lives. It was Israel who first translated the Lords Prayer into the Choctaw language.
