The Cabaniss Family Homepage

Updated September 6, 2000

***
I am researching the Cabaniss Family. The progenitor of our family in America is Henri Cabanis, a french Huguenot who immigrated to Virginia from France via England on the "Mary and Ann". The group of 108 men, 59 women, and 38 children settled at Manakintowne, on the James River in Virginia.
The Cabaniss family is now spread all over the United States, and I have corresponded with members of the family in Nort and South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma and California.

There are several variant spellings of the name ranging from the original Cabanis to Cabaniss, Cabbiness, and Caviness.
