| We are researching some Norwegian ancestors and their descendants in the US. They came from two areas of Norway. One side came from the farms near Trondheim and one side came from the area north of Oslo. The lines we are tracing back include 1) four families that left Norway as Hoyems, from the Byneset Peninsula near Trondheim in 1880, 1882 and 1883. The families came separately to ND, MN and IA. One family changed its name to Hayhome. 2) the father of Ole Martin Carlson, who came to Waseca MN with his mother as a child of one. My colleagues are particularly interested in making contact with descendants of the Hoyems that settled in Montana and the Hayhomes who settled in South Dakota. The Hoyems were John (1854) and wife Hansine (1851) and children George (1872) Ragnvald (1878) Jon (1881) and Pauline (1874) of Montana. The Hayhomes were Andrew (1847) wife Berit (1840) and children Ragnvald (1877) Louise Marie (1878) Ivar (1880) Ira (?) and Aksel Tycho (Taco) (1885) of Elk Point SD. Descendants of Tycho have been located in Arizona and Georgia, as of 2003. |
