      17. Mary or Molly ?

Notes for Jacob BAGLEY:
The 1800 census for Davis Town (Montville) shows Jacob, James, Jonathon and Levi Bagley all from Candia.
Montville town records show a Jacob Bagley involved in several projects the "committee to examine assessors of the rates 1802...Surveyor of Highway West District Davistown 1803...committee to lay our roads 1806." He would have been about 57 in 1802, sons of the other Bagleys would probably have been too young.
Information from Some Descendants of Orlando Bagley explains that Henry's children were baptized as "young adults when their father was readmitted to the church." Baptism dates and some birth dates for Jacob and his siblings are from Amesbury, MA records. Also in book, "He moved to Candia, NH and was probably the Jacob Bagley who signed the Association Test there, April, 1776. Probably the Revolutionary War soldier in Col. Isaac Wyman's Regt., Capt. Joseph Dearborn's Co., July, 1776, in continental service against Canada. Advanced wages and bounty (NH War Rolls). No record of his war service in Washington, D.C. National Archives. He sold land to Benjamin Wadleigh of Candia, N.H., 70 acres, left him by his father (Rockingham County, N.H. Deeds). He moved to Montville, Maine, about 1780."
The children listed come from the above mentioned book and the sources noted are those cited in the book.

  Notes for Mary Bagley:
Montville town records show a Polly, not a Mary, as a child of James and Abigail Bagley. Mom has Polly married to Jacob Leeman and as a twin to Mary. However, the Liberty town history (1927) has Polly married to "a Sawyer" with Daniel listed as one of their children. The Sawyer family has a letter and lock of hair sent from Abigail to her daughter, wife of Daniel Sawyer of Jonesport, telling her her father has died. They have Daniel's wife listed as Mary. I believe that Polly and Mary are the same, one name being a nickname and the Polly married to Jacob L. has different parents. Need to find source of that marriage and verify names.

      25. Susanna RIDEOUT She was the daughter of 50. Benjamin Rideout and 51. Mary Getchell.

Notes for Gideon ALLEN:
A corespondent wrote that John Bucknam's Ledger (A. 1769-1792) states that Gideon was charged for freight paid by Bucknam, as authorized by father Allen. Obediah Allen was the only other Allen in the area at that time. Also, in the same ledger Gideon is specifically listed as a child of Obediah Allen. My corresp. did not see the ledger herself, but was given the information by a local historian, now deceased (8/99). She believes the ledger is owned by Bucknam descendant in Penn.
