Notes for Guilford Dudley St. Clair:
Guilford is listed as a carpenter in "The History of Thomaston, Rockland and South Thomaston" and as a ship carpenter in the death record of his son George Ashley. All of the information on the children listed here (except Guilford) came from "The History of Thomaston..."
Malcolm Jackson wrote that Guilford and Leonora are buried in the Achorn Cem. in Rockland, ME. The birth and death years given are from their headstones. He also says that they filed their marriage int. in Hope, ME Nov. 30, 1845, but he could not find a record of their marriage. Leonora's full birth date is from 'The History of Hope, Me.', sent by Sandy Delano. LDS files found on-line give her full name as Leanora Helen Payson (IGI film #456399) and birth in Hope, ME. The Camden birthplace comes from William Holman (grandson-in-law to Guilford and Leonora).

Notes for Isaac Hanson:
All info for Isaac and Mary supplied by Beverly McCann of Dover, NH unless otherwise noted.
The Calais census of 1900 shows that Mary Louise was born in Canada in 1854 and she immigrated in 1859. This matches the tax rolls, as Isaac first appeared in 1860. In that year, he paid only $1.00 poll tax and showed no real estate or personal estate taxes.
The 1880 census shows Isaac as a next door neighbor to Ashley St. Clair and his first wife, Sarah. "Louisa" is listed as living with her father as a 26 yr. old school teacher. This census shows Isaac and Mary 65yrs, George M. (24 and a lawyer) and Mary(?) Porter, a 19 yr old servant. Isaac worked in the lumber mill. The Calais Directory for 1890-1 lists his occupation as a farmer living on Baring Rd. or St.
Isaac's death record in Calais shows the cause of death as "valve disease heart." The Calais records are not available for 1887 when Mary died. However, they are buried together in the Calais cemetery with a nice monument that gives their names, years of birth and death and the inscription, "He giveth his beloved sleep."
