This was a year or two after his brother, John arrived on the Mayflower on December 26, 1620. *New England Families : "The original Howlands in America were Arthur, Henry, and John. The last named was one of the "Mayflower" number, and the others appeared in the early days of the settlement of Plymouth, but how and from what place in England they came has never been definitely ascertained.
Henry Howland, youngest of the three brothers mentioned above, is first heard of in Plymouth, in 1624, when his name appears in the allotment of cattle to the different families. In the court records of Plymouth the name of Henry Howland is found in a list of freemen under the date of 1633. He appears in Duxbury among its earliest settlers, where he is referred to as "living by the bay side, near Love Brewster's", and the records say he was "one of the substantial landholders and freemen". He was chosen constable for Duxbury in 1635, and was for several years surveyor of highways in the town. In 1643 he was on a list of freemen and of men able to bear arms. He served on the grand jury nine years between 1636 and 1656. In 1657 he apparently joined the Friends, [note: Quakers] which was just beginning to spread in America, and as a result endured for the rest of his life the various persecutions to which this sect was subjected by the civil authorities. Towards the end of his life he became a large possessor of real estate. In 1652 he was associated with others in the ownership of a large tract of land in Dartmouth, and in 1659 he bought with twenty-six others what was then called Assonet, now Freetown. It appears by his will that he owned a house in Duxbury where he doubtless died. He married Mary Newland, who died June 6, 1674. He died January 17, 1671. *Rix : "...In 1640 he purchased five acres of upland and one acre of marsh meadow in Duxbury, Mass., for which he paid twelve bushels of Indian Corne. He doubtless built a house on this land and probably lived in it, as his horses and cattle were there, and probably was the house his widow gave their son John..."

*History of Authur, Henry, and John Howland : "The old records of Plymouth colony say that 'Att a courte held y5 of Jan., An 1635,' Henry Howland was chosen 'cunstable for Duxberry'. "

*Descendents of John Howland : "Henry Howland, the youngest brother, was apprenticed to his brother, Humphrey, in London and his name is found there on the Roll of the Drapers Company, 1 October 1623." He was married to * Mary Newland.^{(3373) (3374)}

7681. * Mary Newland⁽³³⁷⁵⁾ died on JUN 17 1674 in Duxbury, MA.⁽³³⁷⁶⁾ She is my 10th great grandmother. She was born.^{(251) (3377)} *Rix lists her date of birth as April 16, 1649, but this would make her 45 years younger than her husband, Henry. Also their son, Zoeth was born in 1636.

also the Family Tree Research of Wilfred Glenroy Howland lists her place of birth as Lynn, Ma. which doesn't make sense with a date of birth of 1594. 10th great grandmother

Note: This may be an error, as her son Zoeth was born in 1636, making he only 13 at the time of his birth. Children were:
