*E-Mail [Steve Fleck] : His occupation in Scotland was a Glassblower. "There is a rumor in the family that maybe my ggg-grandfather (James) changed his name from Affleck to Fleck when he came Canada."

*E-Mail [Michael Fleck] : "Here is what the Presbyterian Witness of 6 Aug 1870, p. 256 recorded: re James Fleck, Sr. 'Fleck, James, Sr., died 17 Jun at Upper Stewiacke, in his 99th year, he was born in the Parish of West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scot., emigrated to NS in 1819, one of the first settlers in the South Branch of Stewiacke.' "
"The patriarch of the line is James Fleck Sr. who died in his "99th year". His obituary states that he came from Ayrshire Scotland (which is consistent with my other research). I have a James Fleck at the top of my tree, but I believe it is James Fleck Jr., not Sr. (I'm trying to confirm that suspicion)."

2/21/97 E-Mail [Michael Fleck] : "I visted one of the LDS Family History Centers last night and found the Christening record for James FLECK Sr. in the Scottish Church Records. The Presbyterian Witness had a death notice for James FLECK that died in 1870 in his 99th year -- it also said he came from "West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland". I found a Christening record for Feb 14, 1777 for James FLECK in West Kilbride, Ayr., Scotland. The father is "John FLECK" and mother "Jean DUNN". (If the dates are correct, and its the same James, then he actually died in his 94th yr).

Note :There might have been another generation here, with James Fleck, Sr. and his son, James Fleck, Jr. If there was only one James Fleck, he would have been about age 52 when he started having children and over age 60 when his last child was born.
