A General Assembly was ordered by the commission and determined, who should have the privilege of choosing three deputies. On the list prepared for Hampton, among others appears Thomas Webster."

Note : This was probably this Thomas, as he would have been age 24 in 1689, although his father, Thomas, Sr. would have been about 58 in 1689 and might have been the one who served.

*History of Hampton : He "was one of the grantees of Kingston in 1694. His gr. son, Ebenezer Webster, b. in Ki., 1739 was one of the first proprietors of Stevenstown, incorporated as Salisbury, 1767. He settled in that part of town now Franklin; m., 1st, Mehetabel Smith; 2nd, Abigail Eastman. The illustrious Daniel Webster was a son by the second marriage."

"On the list of men from Hampton known to have served in the Indian wars, 1675 - 1763, appears the name of John Webster [H of H-Vol.1-p.203].
"It will be noted that the date and the place of his death do not appear. He is known to have been living in 1752. With the records so complete in regard to other members of the family, it must be that he met his death away from home - perhaps in some of the Indian wars - of which no record has been found. This statement is made upon the tradition from Private John Webster's grandson, Sergent Israel Webster, who believed that his Grandfather John was killed by the Indians on the frontiers. It was traditionary that he was a soldier fighting in the wars."
