*History of Hampton : He was a mariner and lived on the homestead in Hampton, NH. He was drowned in the Hampton river with Peter Johnson [2], [my 9th great grandaunt's husband].

*Philbrick Genealogy : He was a mariner in Hampton, NH in 1644. He "[m. (1) Jane, (dau. of Thomas) Roberts of Dover]? He m. (2) Ann Roberts, her sister and had 10 ch. He inherited the homestead in Hampton, and was an active and useful citizen. 'In 1670, he was chosen with others to run the Exeter line.' In 1671, he had a grant of lot 52, 40 acres in the south of Hampton, called ' The new plantation' (now Seabrook). He was drowned in the Hampton River, near the mouth of Cole's Creek."

Note : Apparently his 1st wife died without children, as all his children are listed with his 2nd wife, Ann. [see Philbrick Genealogy : p.10] He was married to * Ann Roberts before 1651.⁽³¹⁸⁰⁾ *Philbrick Genealogy : He "[m. (1) Jane, (dau. of Thomas) Roberts of Dover]? He m. (2) Ann Roberts, her sister and had 10 ch."

this was when her 1st child was born.

*History of Hampton : She was a daughter of Thomas Roberts, of Dover, NH.

*Philbrick Genealogy : Apparently she was Thomas' 2nd wife, the first being her sister, Jane, but all 10 of his children were from this 2nd marriage with Ann.

After James died, she married in July 1674 William Marston, who's 1st wife, Rebecca Page was my 9th great grandaunt. Children were:

*Philbrick Genealogy : He was a "cordwainer". He settled in Hampton, NH. "In 1694 he was a Grantee of Kingstown. In 1702, he sold his house and lot [in Hampton], some 5 acres, to Samuel Chapman, Jr., late of Ipswich, and removed to Kingstown, where he d. 1 Jan. 1712."
"Though an energetic man, respected and honored by his fellow citizins, he failed to accumulate property. In his efforts to open a new settlement upon the frontiers, he with many others suffered and lost much by the attacks of the ruthless savages."
