7190. * Isaac Perkins
(3205)
(3206) was born about 1611.(3207)
He died in NOV 1685 in Hampton, NH.(3208)
He probably died in Hampton, NH. He is my 10th great grandfather. 10th

*History of Hampton : "A few months after the settlement of the town, there
were living in Hampton, two men of the name of Perkins, with their families.
According to tradition, these men were brothers---which is very probable, though
we may not be able to verify it. They appear to have come at nearly the same
time, and the house-lots, assigned to them by the town, adjoined each other,
each containing five acres. Isaac's house-lot was nearly on the sit of the Baptist
parsonage, and Abraham's between that and the corner lot westward, which then
belonged to William English."
"Isaac Perkins lived for more than ten years where he first settled.
In June, 1652, Rev. Timothy Dalton sold to him, for fifty pounds, his farm (granted
first to his son, who died,) lying next Salisbury line (in Seabrook); and Perkins
probably removed thither soon after. He died Nov., 1685. His wife's name was
Susanna."
*E-mail : [source "The Family of John Perkins of Ipswich" by George
A Perkins. pub bef 1900] : "John Perkins and his family were not the only
early settlers of the name that landed upon these shores. The names of six
or seven heads of families of the same name are known as having been among very
early emigrants to the colonies in the new worlds, viz: Rev'd William Perkins,
who came first to Boston and was afterward in Weymouth, Ipswich, Gloucester,
and at last in Topsfield; John, first in Boston, then of Ipswich (whose descendants
we now give); Isaac of Ipswich, Abraham of Hampton, N.H., William of Dover, N.H.,
Edward of Connecticut, William of New Jersey, and perhaps a family who settled
in Delaware; besides these there were quite a number of individuals of the name
who came as passengers from London to Virginia and elsewhere, who are not known
to have had families. "Of the above named, there are strong reasons to
believe that several of them were more or less closely related. John and Isaac
of Ipswich were perhaps brothers, and Abraham of Hampton, a brother or cousin.
It seems highly probable that the Boston Family, of which Edmund is the first
individual certainly known, were the descendants of Isaac of Ipswich and his
wife Alice, who were there in 1637, and who received grants of land at that time.
Traditions in the family point that way. We trust that the researches now making
in England by Mr. Henry F. Waters under the auspices of the New England Historic
Genealogical Society of Boston, may bring to light the connection between these
families." He was married to * Susanna.
(3209) 7191. * Susanna died in 1699.

*History of Martha's Vineyard [from the Internet]: "In the following year"
[1674] "Isaac Chase, probably in company with Samuel Tilton and Jacob Perkins,
all of Hampton, N. H., and related by marriage, came to the new town of (West)
Tisbury with a view to a permanent settlement. All were young men, Chase recently
a widower of 24, Perkins 34 and Tilton 37 years, and they decided upon Homes
Hole neck as the place where they would build their new homes. Chase was refused
permission to settle, but later the town allowed him the privilege.
They first acquired the two sixths interest in the Neck belonging to the town
(the Mayhew and Eddy shares), but the partners of Chase decided shortly after
to leave for other places. Tilton had been granted a home lot in West Tisbury,
and later he removed to Chilmark.
Perkins was first mentioned in the records in 1674 as 'of Homes Hole.' He was
a married man, and it is to be supposed he brought his wife and family with him
to the Vineyard. His residence here was of short duration, as he incurred the
enmity of the Mayhews by testifying against Thomas Daggett in the suit against
James Skiffe, 1673, and from that time on his lot was not a happy one. Little
persecutions followed on each other, until he sold out his interests here in
1676, and settled at Succanesset (Falmouth)."
