Marriage Record 08100072 James Elliott, Brondsman Bond 000113082 He was married to Mary Rachel ELLIOTT on 11 Jan 1789 in Randolph Co., NC. (17)

9. Mary Rachel ELLIOTT (1) was born on 25 May 1765. She died on 14 Sep 1808 in Randolph, Co., NC. Children were:

child i. Hannah LOWDERMILK(1).

FROM THE RESEARCH OF TERRI ADAMS:

Hannah is named in her fathers estate. Lived in Moore Co. NC
child ii. Elizabeth LOWDERMILK(1).

FROM THE RESEARCH OF TERRI ADAMS:

I'm not positive of parents of Elizabeth are. According to John Harrison Lowdermilk estate there is mention of Elizabeth Smitherman who was dec'd in 1850. Her children mentioned were William, Mary (wife of Raleigh Latham), John, Thomas, Rachel, Patsey, Ann, Noah. Also Carol Vidales says that Mary Smitherman who married Rolley Latham's mother was Elizabeth, so I'm pretty sure this is where Elizabeth belongs.
child iii. Sarah LAUDERMILK(1) was born about 1790. She died before 1850.

FROM THE RESEARCH OF TERRI ADAMS:

Another source shows Sarah marrying Jacob Stutts but having no children.
Rachel Finley shows that Sarah died cir 1832 possibly in TN.
Ref: Fh-Lau-101-180.

child iv. Jacob LAUDERMILK(1) was born about 1790 in Randolph, Co., NC. He died about 1862 in Tippah, MS.

FROM THE RESEARCH OF TERRI ADAMS:

Census: 1830 Hardeman Co., TN, 1850/1860 Tippah Co. MS.
There are no Laudermilks in MS in 1820. Jacob is not in TN in 1840 census.

Jacob was in Bibb Co. Al. in 1825. He was appointed on overseer of roads for the 5th precinct. He remarried in Hardeman Co. TN. and moved to Marshall Co. TN. about 1839. He then moved to Holly Springs, Tupelo, Ripley, MS. and finally to Memphis TN.

Jacobs daughter Sarah was supposedly born in Wilcox Co. AL in 1819, but he is not in the Wilcox Co. census for 1820.

Need to recheck that Memphis TN. information. He was in Tippah Co. MS. in the 1860 census? He died in 1862?
child4 v. William LOWDERMILK.
child vi. Stephen A. LOWDERMILK(1) was born on 15 May 1793 in Asheboro, Randolph, NC. He died on 7 Oct 1872 in Clay, IN.

FROM THE RESEARCH OF TERRI ADAMS:

Is this the same Steven Lowdermilk that was witness to deed of Cornelius Latham (son of John Latham, Sr.) in 1817 in Randolph Co. NC? If so, he had probably lived in the Little River Region of Randolph Co. Another Deed in Aug. 1814 with Cornelius Latham was witnessed by S. Graves. Any relation to Stephen's wife Mary?

Stephen opposed slavery and went to Clay Co., Ind. In Indiana they lived near Ashboro, a town that Stephen and his son William named. They also named Mt. Olive Church after their home church in N.C.
Census: 1830 Randolph Co. N.C.
child vii. Elliott LOWDERMILK(1) was born about 1795. He died on 7 Oct 1870 in AR.(18)

NOTES FROM THE RESEARCH OF TERRI ADAMS:

Elliott and Jane went to Arkansas.
Census: 1830 Randolph Co. N.C. (shown that he should be born 1800-1810) They moved to Georgia from N.C. and lived in Harris Co. near Jane's brother, John D. Johnson. Came to Pickens Co., Al. late 1840's and lived next door to John D. Johnson once again.
